“Started training here in 2023 and felt extremely welcomed immediately! Which I can’t say about other Santa Barbara Jiu Jitsu academies I’ve attended… 10th planet SB vibes are unmatched and they promote a super safe environment, while also focusing on competition/tournaments. Honestly it’s an amazing place to train and I couldn’t recommend it more!”

“I went to a handful of classes here, and as someone just starting out, I got the sense that they either do not know how -- or just don't care -- to teach at a beginner level. They did not even go over basic safety, such as how and when to tap, how to fall, or anything about hygiene on the mats, or even what to wear. There was not one class where I didn't get hurt because I was asked to do some advanced technique that was way over my head. Furthermore, customer service is essentially non-existant. There is no phone number you can call, and you can only communicate with the owner (Jeremiah) through email. I was told he no longer teaches and does not show up much to his own gym. The instructors and students themselves are friendly and encouraging, but this is not a gym that I would recommend to people without prior experience.”

“I reached out to check out this gym and initially received an offer for a free class. However, due to scheduling conflicts, I couldn’t make their evening classes at first. When I followed up later with more availability, the owner’s tone and approach changed drastically. Instead of welcoming me to try a class, they insisted on a day pass at the same rate they charge for an entire week. When I told them this felt out of integrity, I received extremely unprofessional, insulting, and disrespectful remarks. I’m attaching a screenshot so you can see the response firsthand. The text also below in review. It struck me as very odd—some of the assumptions were a bit humorous, but I also feel they were inappropriate, and I believe it’s important to bring awareness to this. Any gym should be built on respect, integrity, and community—unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience here. If you value a professional, welcoming environment, I suggest looking elsewhere. His response: I can tell by your photo and the way you have been flaking in coming in for 3 months that you would be a wast of time.. this is why I put a financial barrier in between you and our gym. I know you are looking to just train for a day for free and wouldn’t come In if you had to pay anything. . Our regular rate is $50 for a day pass. We are running a new year special for $50 for a week.. but I already know ur not serious about training.. that’s why I put a $50 barrier knowing that that would get rid of you.. the whole warm regards bullshit is all an act. I know ur kind. Now u question integrity.. I’m assuming ur a vegan democrat barista. Go away. - Jeremiah”

“Been coming to this gym for almost 2 years and I absolutely love it. The coaches Jeremiah, Mike, Moose, Manny, and Esteban are amazing they make gym feel at home. The rest of the team gives the gym an atmosphere that I have fell in love with they are all my brothers/family. I would 100% recommend this place if you’re looking to start your bjj journey.”

“I started training here back in 2019 and it's been a great experience! The coaches, Jeremiah and Jarrell, have deep understanding of the 10th planet system and their lessons are easy to learn. If you want to compete or just train for fun/ get in shape this is the gym to join.”
