“Trained jiu jitsu for two years prior to training here. My prior jiu-jitsu gym had limited no-gi classes and I want to eventually practice MMA, so I needed to find a gym with more no-gi classes. I was referred to this gym by a friend and I am extremely thankful that he referred me here. The coaches have been amazing and my jiu jitsu has grown a lot since I started training here in January. I've only been training here for about four months, but expanded my game a lot. I attend the Monday and Wednesday morning class with coach Jorge and Genisis; Jorge on Mondays and Genesis on Wednesdays. With Jorge we've been playing/practicing using the ecological approach and it has helped out my game a lot. My game has become a lot more intuitive and fluid in specific positions. I've become a lot more comfortable in sitting guard, rubber guard, lockdown, and standing. With Coach Gen, we've been working a lot of the 10th Planet fundamentals through their warmup sequences. Coach Gen is very detailed in his coaching and has greatly helped me improve my ankle lock and toe hold; headlock that shin and push those toes to the butt. I've gotten a lot more ankle lock submissions and I got my first toe hold submission. Also, Coach Gen is great in his coaching in the standup game. He has a strong wrestling background and he competes at a high level. My wrestling defense has improved a lot and I've learned and have been able to execute some good takedowns. I also train in the evening with Coach Jeremy and Chai. These classes are bigger than the morning classes. Coach Jeremy and Chai are great instructors. You can tell that they have an in-depth knowledge of jiu jitsu and they are super cool people. Coach Chai is a 3rd degree black belt under Eddie Bravo, so it's fun to sometimes hear his stories. Rolling with Chai feels like rolling with a ninja. This gym only opened up in December 2023 and it for sure is a hidden gem.”
