From the moment I walked into the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Gym, I was met by master Kevin Hughes and Phil Schwartz and they are super welcoming and very professional it was apparent that I was stepping into a world-class, highly professional establishment dedicated to the art of No-GI Jiu Jitsu. I started jiu jitsu nearly a year ago at 10th planet Portland but switched over when I heard there was a gym opening in my local area that was under the umbrella of the 10th planet system, The energy and atmosphere in the gym were both welcoming and invigorating, setting the stage for an unparalleled training experience. Kevin and Phil are not only experts in their field, but also fantastic educators. They have a unique ability to break down complex techniques into understandable segments, making learning easy and enjoyable. Their approach is personalized, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their skill level, is given the attention they need to progress. Beyond the high-quality training, the gym itself is pristine. It’s evident that great care has been taken to maintain a clean and safe training environment. The gym also possesses state of the art equipment, which further enhance the training experience, such as resistance bands, Dumbbell’s, Nordic Benches and even a full fledged sled for all jiu jitsu player needs. They also offer a ATG for Jiu Jitsu session. (Also have very clean bathrooms and showers👏) What truly sets 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu apart, however, is the community. The gym fosters a tight-knit, supportive, and friendly atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to push their boundaries and improve. I’m proud to call this place home and It’s a place where beginners are welcomed with open arms, and seasoned jiu jitsu players are constantly challenged. All in all, my experience at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu has exceeded my expectations. Coach Kevin never lets me sell myself short in the things I think I can’t do, he not only teaches you moves he’s teaching you philosophy and the strategy behind the art. This helps me see situations from different perspectives and fosters critical thinking that even translates to life in general. Kevin moves me and he pushes me in a motivating way and lastly the coaches foster a sense of community among their students and promote teamwork, collaboration and team support!
