“I’d caution anyone looking for kickboxing or striking training—this gym wasn’t what I expected. They market themselves as a top spot for self-defense through kickboxing, but in my experience, the classes get really repetitive. We’d spend entire sessions on Dutch drills without bag work, pad drills, or light sparring. When I asked a longer-term member about drills like slips, rolls, or perfecting low kicks, they told me it was mostly Dutch drills day after day. A few other red flags: there are only two heavy bags and some pads lying around that no one uses. Classes aren’t split by skill level, and sparring rarely happens—and what does is super light. The instructors are friendly and seem skilled, but the program feels poorly managed. It honestly felt like a cash grab. I even spoke to some folks now at my new gym who used to train here—they said it felt like the kickboxing classes were added just for extra money. The price doesn’t help: $129 for one class a week, compared to my new gym’s $150 for unlimited classes. On the bright side, their BJJ program does get good reviews—BJJ seems to be their specialty—but I wouldn’t recommend this gym if striking is what you’re after. If that’s your goal, try a more dedicated spot like Valdez MTKB, King Cobra MT, or LAMT instead.”
