Alliance is great. My 2 kids (10&11) and I train there and it's been a great experience. The instructors and students have all been excellent, and the facility is kept clean (they wash the mats 3 times a day). There's levels to the Jiu-Jitsu game, and they have loads of classes serving everyone from the very beginner to the more advanced. I recently moved into the area, and as a competitive hobbyist, I was hoping to find a good school here, and I'm happy to say Alliance was just that for us.

Absolutely amazing BJJ team and gym. The instructors are wonderful with my 9 year old son and they run this ship tight! I am so impressed every time I come in and the see the classes just expanding more and more. That makes me so happy to see! I could not recommend them more.

I really didn’t want to leave this review, I tried to communicate with the club directly; unfortunately, they didn’t respond to my last email & have avoided any accountability. I do not recommend this place for your children. Mrs. Tasha specifically is not good with children and unfortunately she is the main instructor for most of the younger classes. My son has learned very little in almost 2yrs, I’ve wasted over $2500 for my son to not even understand what BJJ is. Also, the Lakewood facility is terrible, very unclean and has no AC during the summer. The instructors are almost always late to open & they don’t bother to open any windows; I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s over 100 degrees in there and this is on any day over 75-80 degrees outside. I’ve emailed about this and they refuse to do anything about it. Then, they expect the kids to perform in full Gi; it wasn’t until my email did they give the option to practice w/o the Gi tops. Then, what is more upsetting is they lecture/reprimand the small kids for not listening or taking the practice serious; it was obvious the 4-6yr olds were overheated, of course they are not focused. THEN, she punished a kid for getting up to get water because he didn’t ask first, again, they are 6yr olds in full heavy Gi in a room that is over 100 degrees. As a parent herself, she should know better. The kids don’t know to ask; on normal none hot days, they are told they get water when they are told to, so they didn’t know they could ask. The poor kid needed that water. It came to the point that I would travel to their Lacey location on the hot days to try & get my money’s worth, but I couldn’t keep doing that. Again, I emailed them about this all and expressed my frustration that I don’t feel like we are getting our money’s worth, they didn’t take accountability or make acceptable solutions. I chose to not bring my son back for his own safety. I forgot to cancel sooner and asked for a refund for 1 of the 2 months we have not attended, I expressed I understand if they can’t provide a refund, as I should have cancelled sooner. They have a 30 day cancellation notice, so they will be charging me another month, which in the grand scheme of things, is poor business practice. Last I heard they only had 2-3 kids in the one youth class. I’ve talked to other parents who feel the same, so I’m not surprised the class size has gone down. I hope they can make the necessary changes for the sake of future kids.

Amazing atmosphere, students, and instructors. Couldn't ask for a better martial arts school for adults and kids.

We have two kiddos (one girl and one boy) who started their Alliance BJJ journey a month ago, after running into the owner, James, at a food truck! We popped into their new Lacey gym that afternoon and signed them up. They are LOVING it!!!! I have been so impressed with the Coaches/Instructors. They are so patient with each kid. They are incredibly knowledgeable on BJJ and that shows in how they teach the skills to the kids. They get down on the mat with the kids and really encourage them to stay focused and not give up! Alliance BJJ has been a positive influence on my kids! I love watching them learn, engage and evolve in the sport! I highly recommend Alliance BJJ to all ages, kids to adults...they rock!! Go check them out!
