“The womens classes are the most fulll, but the black belts aren't around so people treat it like a day care - young children running and screaming everywhere all over the mat, disrupting class with no checking. The black belt arrives for the adult class right after and everything locks up...for the tweenager boys that make up the adult class. This is the reality of basically every martial arts studio, but still 1 star for not being anywhere near what is advertised. It's for children, period.”
“I did a trial class on a Monday with instructor John. While I was nervous being possibly the only female (and newbie) on the matt everyone including John was welcoming and supportive. I STRUGGLED during the warm ups and at one point John pulled me aside to show me a movement one on one and when I still struggled he said don't worry we will get it. It was hard to not feel like the weakest one in the room but everyone was supportive especially my partner i got to roll with who told me to come back. I attended the women's only class on Tuesday with Instructor Tasha. I was welcomed by Tasha and Lynda at the start of class. Tasha like John immediately took the time to help me whenever she noticed I was doing a movement wrong or couldn't figure it out. Lynda was probably my biggest supporter especially when I attempted the backward rolls! She literally kept telling me yes, like that! Tasha even explained that naturally women have a tendency to not use their weight to be heavy but in jiu-jitsu you want to be able to use your body weight to hold your opponent down. I've always struggled with feeling like I am a bigger female and that its a negative thing but no one during either class made me feel like lesser of a person for being new, struggling during class, or because I'm a heavier female. I highly recommend alliance especially for anyone on the fence about giving the trial class a try. The facility is extremely clean as well.”
“Alliance is AWESOME! I wish I committed a long time ago. Everyone is very nice and is eager to help you learn and develop. The Alliance staff makes you feel like a member of their team. BJJ is exhausting but the feeling you have after completing a class is pure bliss. Thank you team Alliance!”
