“I recently tried my very first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class at Alliance, and I can honestly say it was one of the most humbling and empowering experiences I’ve ever had. Walking in, I was nervous and I definitely felt out of my comfort zone. But from the moment I stepped onto the mat, Professor Gabriel and the other students welcomed me with open arms, patience, and encouragement. You can tell they care deeply about every single person who walks in, whether you’re brand new or a seasoned athlete. The class itself was a perfect balance of challenge and fun. Even though I was a total beginner, everything was explained clearly and supportively. BJJ is such a beautiful mix of strategy, technique, and movement. It felt like a workout for both my body and my mind. And what really stood out to me was the sense of community. Everyone was so encouraging and respectful. To anyone who’s been thinking about trying it but feels intimidated: do it. Especially here at Alliance! You don’t need to be in shape, or flexible, or know anything at all. All you have to do is show up, and the team will meet you with open arms. I did and now I can’t wait to go back! Special thank you to Professor Gabriel, Mariane, and Alexis for this experience!”
