“Amba Martial Arts is a gem hidden in the north valleys. We choose Amba because it was close and affordable. One of the only year round sports in the North Valleys for my then very active 4 year old. What I didn’t know was that we were joining a very well respected Dojo with National and World Champions. I didn’t know that my son would meet some his closest friends and we would find community within the Dojo. Aside from community and friendship, the training at Amba Martial Arts is structured and engaging. They rotate weeks of sparring, self defense and boxing. They also offer other classes like kick box fit for adults and 1:1 training. They train people at all levels and abilities. I’ve seen them work with kids who have disabilities and behavior problems helping to give parents a break and reinforce discipline. Because of Amba Martial Arts I know that my son has not only the skills to defend himself but to overcome challenges, work hard and preserve through failure.”
“We have been with Amba Martial Arts for over 10yrs. Started with my oldest son who is now 22 and my little one who’s 8yrs old. These family pour their heart and soul into the kids, they have helped our family in so many ways such us helping us with discipline and their confidence. They have always treat us like family. If you’re looking for good discipline, and great Karate experience, here’s the place. My kids have travel to different places in the US, completed in Europe last year and have competed in Canada as well. They have also helped us through my oldest teenage years, which if you’re a parent of one, you know is not an easy ride. I know I can count on them when I need to. They have not been the only Martial Arts School we have train in, but will be the last one.”
“Amba martial arts became our family. One of the best decisions I could of made for my soon when he was 11 up to the age of 18. He dint only learn karate, he learned plenty of other life lessons/skills. I'm proud of what my boy has become, and I'm happy to say that the Amba family had a big part in this.”
“We searched out this dojo since we had known the owners from when they taught at another dojo and liked what they were doing. My son was a part of this dojo for about 8 to 9 years. It was a great dojo when they stuck to the techniques of the martial arts of Goju Shorei and the self-defense. Now this school is only about traveling to tournaments and teaching point sparring and katas. Belts are being given out even though techniques have gone out the window. I have seen the owner lose control on students and belittle them in front of their team mates. I have witnessed students and parents being manipulated against each other in tournaments and in the dojo. They show favoritism to certain parents and students as long as the parents are submissive and did not raise a fuss. There is a lot of drama starting with the owners. If you ask questions or question the owner or sensi’s about anything or call them out on something they get angry and take it out on your kid to the point you do not want to ask questions anymore. The dojo does need to be cleaned a lot more then it is. Sometime bathrooms and mats are bad. Fund raising is a joke!! It is done for travel and tournaments for the kids. They never give a break down on how much money was raised and how it was spent or split up to the kids or the parents. So, make sure you do the math. They have talked bad about every dojo in town and even dojo’s outside of Nevada Because they do not want you to leave. Some of the parents and kids that have left the dojo have been talked bad about after they have left. I have also learned that they needed to hold a raffle to get parents to give a review, that is why there are so many great reviews in the month of August. They were giving away a GI, T-shirts, and Private lesson with the instructors. Why? Ask yourself why would they need to do this? To push down a couple of bad reviews that could be speaking the truth. Just a thought. Anyway! This is just a warning so if you decide to try this dojo look out for yourself and your kids. I hope your experience is much better than mine..”
