Eric is a naturally gifted and talented teacher. This was my first exposure to BJJ, and I could not have hoped for a more welcoming and supportive introduction. Eric is a patient teacher who creates a safe and fun learning environment (while still managing to nurture friendly competition). Classes are small which allows for personalized and focused instruction, but still large enough that you'll feel the strong sense of community (the guys and gals here are all top-notch people). I cannot speak highly enough of my first year of BJJ with Eric and Austin Jiu-Jitsu Collective. I highly encourage both beginners and experienced goers alike to check out the place.

Really enjoy this gym. I started training here a month ago with no prior jiu jitsu experience just to try it out. It's a fun way to get/stay in shape and pick up some self defense skills. There is a definite learning curve, but Eric has made the process itself enjoyable. We do some drills, learn a few new skills and you can stay later for some open rounds. The gym culture is warm, friendly and respectful and the classes are small. Pricing is simple and month to month without gimmicks.

I've been training here for about four months, and absolutely love it. As a middle-aged newbie I was worried about the risk of injury, but the head coach, Eric, has created a culture of responsibility and respect, where safety is the highest priority. He is extremely knowledgable yet continues to learn and bring the newest techniques being developed across the competitive jiu-jitsu world into the gym. This commitment to staying current has made a huge difference in my own progress — I’ve seen massive improvements in both my technique and overall fitness. Perhaps most importantly, it's just a fun and chill environment. If you are looking for a place to learn jiu-jitsu and get a great workout, I highly recommend that you check it out!

Austin Jiu Jitsu Collective is my first Jiu Jitsu gym and I’ve had a really excellent experience in the few months I’ve been training here. Eric the head trainer is a passionate, patient, and knowledgeable coach. The community of people that he’s built are also genuinely good & kind people. I really appreciate the teaching style here and how we drill a certain important concept in a fun way that includes plenty of variety. I haven’t stopped talking about JiuJitsu since beginning to train here and I’m looking forward to continuing to learn. Highly recommend checking it out!

This is the first bjj academy I went to in Austin and immediately knew it was for me. Came from a nice academy in southeastern Ohio, and immediately felt like home. Everyone is very welcoming and eager to learn and improve. Eric (the coach) clearly knows what he is talking about and runs the classes in a unique way that allows you to learn the essential fundamentals, and also challenges you to discover and build upon these fundamentals in your own way. I couldn’t recommend this place more, especially if you are new to the city or to bjj. You will feel welcomed and accepted immediately here.
