Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“I’m a 40+ year old with minimal experience that joined Brujitsu around Christmas time. My priorities were to find a place that I could find a hobby and workout, learn a new skill and not get hurt (as I have a physical job) and this place checks all of those boxes. 1. The instructors I’ve met are all knowledgeable. During the instructional portion, there’s not only explanation of how to do things but why you’re doing it which is something I appreciate. Between Monday-Wednesday gi classes and Thursday-Friday no gi classes, I’ve learned a lot, even though I can’t pull every move off. 2. It’s an intense workout that requires a little of everything: cardio, flexibility, strength. After instructional, you roll a few rounds with multiple people at the end of class to get a chance to see how your game works live. 3. I’ve been submitted and put in compromised situations every class but I haven’t got hurt. Everyone is respectful and I haven’t run into anyone that’s tried to crank a submission or feel the need to prove themselves. I’ve been sore, like any good workout, but not hurt. 4. Everyone’s down to help whenever I’ve had questions and haven’t turned down a chance to walk me through things. Friday nights are a bonus because some people hang out after the class and kick it. This is a unique thing I haven’t experienced at any other gyms because it gives you a chance to get to know your teammates.”
“I've known the guys running BruJitsu for well over ten years. If you're traveling in the Monterey Bay Area, this club is a unique and welcoming place to catch some rolls and meet some great guys/girls. The gym is located on the second floor of a brew store. The atmosphere is welcoming with great instruction. If you're there on a Friday night they close out the open mat with some beers.”
“Brujitsu is an outstanding place to train. The instructors are knowledgeable, supportive, and skilled at teaching all levels. The environment is friendly and inclusive, fostering a strong sense of community. Classes are well-organized, with a focus on safety and technique. Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn and grow in jiu-jitsu!”
“I started training here roughly a year ago. The depth of grappling knowledge available at Brujitsu is remarkable. The instructors as well as the practitioners here have helped me break through various physical and mental barriers with many more to go. Highly recommended for beginner and experienced grapplers alike. The community here is welcoming, generous, funny, patient, a group of sweethearts really that will teach you to strangle your foes at the highest levels. If you take jiujitsu/wrestling seriously but don't take yourself too seriously this is the place for you.”
“Very welcoming and laid-back environment with no big egos. Multiple black belts, beginners and everything in-between. Great instruction and individual attention to each and every practitioner in a small group setting. Highly recommend.”
