“This is the place to train if you live in Lynchburg or the surrounding area. If you're passing by while traveling, this is where you should train. Professor Rob is extremely knowledgeable and has amazing jiu jitsu. His instruction is technical and detailed, and he's really good at linking a series of techniques together while providing the bigger picture understanding of "why". Rob is also clearly dedicated to helping each student with his/her individual game. It is obvious that he cares about his students. I trained at Freedom Jiu Jitsu for a month while temporarily close by in Rockbridge County. It was truly a great experience and allowed me to continue training while relocating. As a visitor, I was welcomed with open arms. The other students and community as a whole were super friendly and welcoming. It's clear that high level, competitive jiu jitsu is being taught at this academy. The students are tough and technical but not intimidating or over-aggressive at all. Everyone is close and having a great time learning and training. This really is the place to be in my opinion. Excellent jiu jitsu instruction, competitive, great vibe and atmosphere, and friendly community.
