Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“I joined Clark’s after training at some other local gyms and at my friends (who’s now a Black Belt and Coach at Clark’s) garage during Covid. Right away I felt very invited and welcomed by the Coaches and the members. The Instruction and knowledge from the many coaches and especially from Coach Ryan Clark is top tier. The Talent level amongst members is also top tier, as a 205 lb competitive Jiu-Jitsu player I have the opportunity to train with multiple black belts that are my size including a world class 205 lb Grappler. Since joining Clark’s I have competed many times in tournaments and grappling events and I have come in first place in every no gi competition and I have Clark’s to thank for that. Clark’s has become one of the only places I truly feel like myself, most of my friends are there and it’s where I go to learn and improve myself. Highly recommend to any level of martial arts, Clark’s is the spot.”
“I’ve been training at Clark’s University of Martial Arts in Bend for the last five years, and my kids have been going there for seven. We primarily do jiu-jitsu, and it’s been such an awesome journey. My son also takes private Kali and MMA classes, and he’s grown so much in both skill and confidence. The instructors are amazing, super knowledgeable, and they really care about each student’s progress. It’s got such a welcoming vibe, and it’s definitely become a second home for us. If you’re looking for a place where you and your family can train, learn, and grow together, I can’t recommend it enough!”
“I loved the free self defense course I took a while back. Signed up for the 8 week course thinking it would be just as good and rewarding. Very wrong. They should have an interest session for it before charging $200 w/ no refund if you don’t return after the first session. Instructors wife/gf (?) made weird comments about how he was taken (by her) but there were single men in other classes if anyone was looking. Like, what. We’re attending a female only class to focus on ourselves, not on a man. She made other unnecessary comments about his level of attractiveness, it was like insecurity was being projected and it was weird. Class description was also described as being good for any physical condition, and again, instructors partner made comments that if you were out of breath then you probably need to do more cardio. Was just a completely different vibe and experience than the folks leading the free sessions. I did not feel comfortable or welcome at all and did not return. I would recommend the free class to anyone, it was awesome and I’ve heard good things a/b other classes, but I would not recommend spending money on the 8 week SD course. When I asked for a refund I was told I had “invested in myself,” uh, no. I invested in class I no longer felt comfortable attending.”
“Our experience as a family at Clarks University of Martial Arts over the past few years has been nothing short of exceptional. Initially, my son started training jiu jitsu here as a beginner, and we've watched him grow both in skill and confidence. The instructors are top-notch—knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about teaching. They create a positive and supportive environment where every student, regardless of their level, feels encouraged to push their limits and improve. Overtime, my daughter, husband and I all trained at the gym for various martial arts and self defense. If you’re looking for a welcoming, high-quality martial arts studio with excellent instructors and a fantastic community, I highly recommend Clarks.”
“Coach Ryan Clark is a huge inspiration has a great head on his shoulders teaches more than jiu-jitsu such as breathing techniques and how to deal with anxiety. He is very involved in everyone's lives in the gym and out of the gym. He trains all of his coaches to be top-notch leaders. This is hands-down the best gym in town. When I have a bad day every time I come into jiu-jitsu here at Clark's University I get a huge Kool-Aid smile on my face as I see everyone and their smiles as well. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone and everyone. Thank you Ryan Clark for having an amazing facility and staff! Sincerely Jamie Kozlowski.”
