John is very knowledgeable, and friendly. He seems to be quite connected as well! He mentioned many professional jiujitsu athletes and fighters who he had as visitors in his gym. If you’re looking for legitimate skills as well as a good atmosphere and vibe this is a great place.

This time business took me to the beautiful Salt Lake City. Wanting to keep up my training, I reached out to John McKean via the Combat Art’s Instagram and he welcomed me graciously. I had a fantastic time under the tutelage of John. He and I had a great conversation about BJJ culture and the importance of being a good host when you have drop-in visitors and being a gracious visitor. The class was informative and packed with a whole range of skill level. Facilities are clean and a shower is available.

I can't recommend this school highly enough. I was in SLC for a night and dropped in. Professor John was immediately welcoming, as were his students. The fundamentals class was a great pace for anyone interested in trying out jiu jitsu, and the competition class had students of all experience levels who are happy to meet you at your level and push you to be your best. Overall Professor John has built a great culture and really cares about his students' progress. Definitely check out CAS&C if you're a local or just passing through. Thanks again, Coach!

I highly recommend Combat Arts Strength and Conditioning for BJJ. As a beginner, I’ve felt much more welcomed here compared to other BJJ gyms I’ve trained at. It’s a great place for anyone looking to learn and improve

The gym is friendly and welcoming. It's relatively small, but has decent depth. I'd definitely check them out if you're looking at bjj gyms in the area.
