βAMAZING place to learn jiu jitsu - Martin and his son, Levi Escobar are top-notch practitioners and their knowledge of BJJ and teaching skills are on another level. If you really want to learn something that will keep you in great shape and benefit you for the rest of your life, take a class at De Brazil Jiu Jitsu in Tucson, you wonβt be disappointed πβ
βI dropped in here this week while in Tucson for work. The coach and students are super welcoming, made me feel at ease, and gave me some tough rolls. I learned some cool new stuff I hadn't seen before, and really enjoyed the class. Also I don't mind paying drop in fees, but wasn't asked to here, which I really appreciated - it's really nice to drop in a school when visiting a new place and to be treated as a guest. Thank you Martin!β
βThis school is top notch. I attended a drop in class while on a cross country move (I am in military). When I called, I did not get an answering machine but the owner and head instructor himself who was polite, enthusiastic and eager to help me train. When I showed up, he integrated me into the class and his students did the same. The class instruction revolved around points drawn from his students competition. During this segment, he highlighted several impasses his students encountered in recent competitions and various ways to turn those stalemate to advantages in the future. The finer points of the techniques were shown and discussed (hip placement, arm pressure, pins, etc) that make or break the moves. Then we drilled. After drilling, we rolled six rounds. No egos only heart at this school. Students did not handle me with kit gloves but were not dirty or vindictive either. Everyone worked hard and put 110% in while remaining completely respectful. The school has a warm, welcoming environment that emphasizes discipline and dedication. I would readily make this my home gym if I lived in Tucson. I strongly recommend dropping by here if you are traveling through or, if you live in Tucson, making this gym your home. Thank you and hopefully I can swing through Tucson and train here again one day!!β
βI began training at Debrazil when I was six years old. Iβve known MartΓn Escobar my whole life and canβt thank him enough for the knowledge he has given me. I received my yellow belt from him as a juvenile and I plan on receiving my black belt from him as an adult. Great academy. Great people. Great energy.β
βIβve never seen a martial arts school that operated with less respect for peoplesβ time. I spoke to the owner, Martin, a couple times about training and he knew I lived over 90 minutes away from his school. The first time, I tried setting up a private lesson with him, then he tried switching the day of and giving me someone else, so I didnβt go, but at least that time he had the courtesy of telling me. We spoke again and he told me they have an open mat that begins at 5:30. I left work early, around 3:30 to account for Tucsonβs rush hour and got there around 5:15. Aside from other students who also arrived, no one ever showed to open the school! Martin ignored my call and text informing him that he had students waiting outside and never had the courtesy to let people know classes were canceled that day. I know how upset I was for wasting over 4 hours driving there to be blown off, but I canβt imagine how Iβd feel if I was a paying student and was treated like this. Iβve gone to other places to train in Tucson and they were all great, so I hope Martin begins acting with more respect toward those trying to support his business.β
