βI started training Gracie JuJitsu with Ben and the team here back in Feb of this year with ZERO experience. Ben is very professional, and his knowledge of self defense is quite vast! I have even taken some personal boxing classes from him as well as personal jujitsu class for me and my son. I love the training atmosphere, as there are no egos, just people trying to better themselves! The dues might be a few dollars a month, but the experience, brotherhood, and knowledge is priceless.β
β5 stars isnβt enough but itβs all Google will allow. I met Ben back in 2013 when he taught me a technique that I used to win several competition grappling matches (no lie, at least 30). Weβve been training together for eleven years and every time I see him him shows me a new concept or technique that changes my game. Since then, Ben has been my primary go-to source for learning the original self defense curriculum taught by Royce Gracie (I drive all the way from Asheville, North Carolina) because heβs a very technical instructor but a careful, respectful training partner. On top of all that, Ben is just a really good dude that you wonβt regret learning from and sharing time with. He and his team have a great thing going and you donβt want to be five years down the road looking back wishing you would have started sooner. Stop in today and youβll be thankful you did.β
βMy interest in Jiu Jitsu started after hearing several people talk highly about it on different podcasts. After a quick google search, I found Fight To Win Spartanburg. I have been training Jiu Jitsu for about an year and have only positive things to say about it. My one regret is not starting sooner! Ben is an incredible coach and has built an awesome community. They are some of the most down to earth and respectful people I have ever met. Jiu jitsu has helped me in many ways. It is a great stress reliever and it helps me to remain calm in stressful moments. Jiu Jitsu is not only physically challenging but mentally challenging. This is what appeals to me most and makes me continue to come back for more. I believe that everyone could benefit from Jiu Jitsu and I highly recommend that you give it a shot.β
βBen runs a clean, efficient, and challenging gym. He and other upper belts are excellent at coaching technique and providing structure. The gym environment pushes you to get better, but is definitely team-oriented. Take care of your partner, take care of each other. Everyone is encouraging and will offer help and constructive criticism if desired, so if you are new to any sort of grappling (as I was several months ago) there is no reason to be scared to try a class.β
βBen, is a great coach he holds classes and open mat jiu jitsu nearly everyday for adults. So if you miss a few days for work or whatever the reason just come in the next day and learn the next lesson. Plenty of white belts so you will always have a healthy competition near or close to your level of training. He's a fantastic leader on the mats. Wednesday the other Black belt Wes holds open mat the class is kind of small and a great opportunity for a lot of hands on with the instructor. Both Bkack belts are full of knowledge and willing to help anytime. 5 out of 5 any day of the week highly recommend FTW Spartanburg.β
