Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“Started dropping in to Gracie Barra Cedar Park two months ago to take some classes. My home gym is GB Round Rock and if you are a member of any GB in Williamson County you can attend GB Cedar Park and GB Georgetown. Training with different staff if always fun and meeting new students in a huge plus. As for the classes, the Tuesday and Thursday at 8am classes are always informative, fun, and challenging. There is a mix of students from White belts all the way up to brown. Always have more than enough professors and coaches to keep an eye out and help you out if you are having a tough time with anything reviewed in class. As with most GB's you can expect a structured curriculum, clean gym, and safe environment that will push you and take you out of your comfort zone to challenge. Be ready to work and sweat. Jiu Jitsu can seem intimidating, but when you communicate with your partner it is a fun and challenging experience. Go to learn and not fight. After class, on Tuesday and Thursday one can even stick around and watch the GB 3 class which is more advanced. Always a welcoming place with solid people.”
“This place may be a good place to bring your kids, but not for adults. I had stopped coming here after a little over a year of training here because I felt like training here as a woman was so restricted. All of the women would get separated from everyone else to train on a small section of the narrow mat, and we were rarely allowed to train with anyone else besides other women/girls. Also, if the guys accidentally rolled into our small space, we would have to move. Not them.. We were never allowed to practice takedowns at this location, and it was pretty much impossible for women to get private lessons either because a female instructor had to go with female students and there were none. I felt like all these things really kept me from learning as much as I could have. I really enjoyed learning from Professor Chevy, Professor Silva, and Professor Craig. When I knew that I really wasn't welcome here was when I had an issue with the program director at the Round Rock location for inappropriately singling me out. I told instructors about the incident and nothing was done about it. I realized then that everyone who runs the Cedar Park and Round Rock locations are family, dating, or living together. So of course nothing was going to get done about it. This is really bad business when your students are paying almost $200 a month and you can't even communicate with them about an issue with their staff.”
“I’m very satisfied with my experience at Gracie Barra Cedar Park. The instructors are highly qualified and always attentive, and the classes are fun and motivating. The school provides a welcoming environment focused on student development. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to train Jiu-Jitsu!”
“we went in for a trial class and was pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness of the trainers and coaches. They helped my three-year-old son who is shy at first start to become more receptive to the idea of jiu-jitsu. They even offered some gummy fruit snacks and some jiu-jitsu swag.”
“This is a great place and community to be apart of. The coaches genuinely want each person to excel and thrive in learning the sport. If you are looking for a gym to join, this is it!”
