Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“Father Son Jiu-Jitsu @ Gracie Barra San Diego! As a newbie at Gracie Barra South Austin ("GBSA") I was excited to train with my son at Gracie Barra San Diego. Big shout out to Coach Carol at GBSA for setting everything up for us! Upon walking in Saturday morning, Professor Lucas immediately and warmly welcomed us to GB San Diego. He quickly got us setup and on the mats within 10 minutes. It was Parents / Kids training day meaning parents (even if they didn't train Jiu-Jitsu) got to practice the moves and then roll / train Jiu-Jitsu with their kids on the mats! My son is a bit aggressive and kept landing chokes, arm bars, and even landing a knee bar on me! Guess that is what a 2 stripe white belt 7 year old does to his single stripe white belt 51 year old father! Thanks again for everything Professor Lucas and the entire Saturday morning class at Gracie Barra San Diego!”
“I have loved this gym, and my husband loves this gym and continued to go when I couldn’t. The professors are super patient with those of us that struggle. I was a victim of extreme violence when I was younger that left me in a wheelchair for a long time. I find it hard to have others touch me, and sometimes I still panic. My body feels awkward because it wasn’t that long ago I learned how to reuse my body. I’m still learning myself, and I think Jiu Jitsu helps. The professors are patient, let me work with my husband, gave me guidance, and were accommodating. They do not judge when someone is panicked or is confused. I recommend this gym if you are wanting to start a journey with jiu jitsu, they will be with you and support you along the way.”
“Dropped in from East Coast. Professor Ogawa and his team were very welcoming. The facility is setup nicely and very clean. The instruction was top-notch. The other students welcomed me right in. This school is thriving.”
“This is a very good Jiu Jitsu school. They have very qualified professors and staff that host a very welcoming environment for anyone at any point in their Jiu Jitsu journey.”
“Highly recommend! Teaches kids self discipline, leadership, anti-bullying tactics (real world scenarios and what to do), self defense, respect, and no quitting attitude. Professor Ale is an awesome professor! He's great with kids and my girls look up to him. His wife Patricia works the front desk and she is so kind and humble :)”
