Got the itch to train, and wanted to find a spot with badass training partners but also good people. I found when coming here! Everyone was super welcoming and introduced themselves to me, while also giving me some good training and rounds. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to train while traveling (also to anyone located in the Albuquerque area of course). Russel was an awesome person to learn under for the day. He was super detail oriented and even gave me some pointers during the rolls. It was very welcoming of him to be helping a random drop in student like myself. I am sad I could only train one day with the team on this trip, but I will definitely be back!”
“I enrolled my children in July of 2024. My oldest son (12 yrs), my daughter (6) and my youngest boy (4). Shortly after me and my wife have also started our jiu jitsu journey through GBJJ Albuquerque. Since day one it was obvious that the people here take all aspects of running this business serious. The facility is clean and safe. All staff members are friendly, helpful and respectful, which trickles down into the students and the overall environment on and off the mats. Professor Russel and coach Geoffrey are both excellent instructors. Always having a positive mindset, enthusiasm and eagerness to teach. I've also watched how they interact with students before and after classes and their mentoring skills are top notch. Their jiu jitsu knowledge is vast and their instructions are detailed and easy to follow and understand. Every other coach that helps with the classes and training are kind, helpful and knowledgeable as well. The other members of the school have all been great as well, making it feel more like a family than a group of strangers. And I couldn't complete this review without mentioning the man behind the desk, Enrique. Always a joy to interact with and always available to answer any questions even when he's busy. Our time here has been a great benefit for all of us, individually and as a family.”
“I have nothing but positive feedback regarding the instructors and classes offered. However, issues arose when I signed a form to pause my child's membership and another to cancel it in the same month. Niko personally verified the last day of attendance after I submitted the form and confirmed that no additional information was required. Despite this, I was charged the full monthly fee for the paused membership and an additional three months after cancellation, totaling over $750. Throughout our interactions, Niko demonstrated a lack of listening skills, consistently interrupting me, and displayed rudeness, lack of accountability, and unprofessionalism. He made no effort to assist or rectify the situation. I strongly advise taking photos of signed forms, recording the date and time of submission, as it becomes a matter of your word against his when forms are misplaced or lost, and he refuses to take responsibility. Fortunately, I recorded our conversations, which provide evidence of Niko acknowledging receipt of one form and owing a partial refund, only to deny receiving either form in our subsequent conversation. I requested to speak with management multiple times, but Niko refused to provide management contact information, claiming he was the manager and there was nothing further that could be done to assist me. As a client of over a year—and someone who has personally referred several family members and friends who are currently enrolled—I regret to inform you that the rest will be cancelling as well. I can no longer recommend nor support this establishment to others as long as Niko remains employed here. I respectfully request that a member of management contact me directly to discuss this matter further before I consider escalating my concerns.”
“Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this company. While the instructors are excellent, my experience with the front desk staff has been disappointing. Errors in handling paperwork resulted in financial consequences for me as a customer, and unfortunately, the staff member lacked both the ability and willingness to resolve the issue or take accountability. His unprofessional behavior and unwillingness to listen to customer concerns reflect poorly on the organization and are ultimately damaging to the company’s reputation. This level of service is unacceptable.”
“Highly discourage this place. I am posting for a friend as to keep their information private on a public platform. This person cancelled their membership back in March. Gave notice of this cancellation in January and reminded them again 2 weeks prior to leaving. This place has continued to charge them an additional 3 months totaling $600. The person I’m speaking for has reached out to multiple points of contact at this gym various times over the past month with no response. Their business practices are shady and I highly discourage anyone from coming here. They are only in it for the money and do not care for their members.”
