“Gracie Barra is hands down the best place to start practicing Jiu Jitsu! Both Professor Mario and Ramone are exceptional at their craft and have mastered the art of teaching as well. They are not only highly skilled, but they also take the time to ensure each student improves at their own pace, regardless of skill level. The environment is incredibly welcoming, and from day one, you feel like a part of the family. Everyone, professors, coaches, and fellow students, treats you with respect and encouragement. It’s a fantastic place to train, learn, and grow, both on and off the mats. I highly recommend Gracie Barra for anyone looking to start or continue their Jiu Jitsu journey!”

“Gracie Barra is a great place to start training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Classes are professional, the techniques are effective, and the environment is that of people trying to better their lives. Mario is the head professor with 17+ years of experience, I’ve known him for over 5 years and I travel 40 mins one way to learn his techniques. Try a class, and I bet you won’t regret it.”

“I stopped at Gracie Barra last night to train while on vacation from Philadelphia. It was a good experience. Professors Mario and Ramon were both very nice to me. Professor Ramon was a very technical instructor. He went into great detail for how to land and escape a straight ankle foot lock in nogi. Even though I was just there for the night, Professor Ramon took some time to give me some individual instruction and make sure that I was having a good experience. All of the students went out of their way to be nice. Everyone I rolled with had good control, which is a great reflection of the gym and its instructors. I look forward to training there again the next time I’m in town.”

“For parents: My 7 yr old twins have been coming to Gracie Barra for a year now. Professor Mario provides a fun yet disciplined environment for kids, and the same consistent energy and positivity week in and out. My children love coming twice a week, where they learn valuable and useful lessons about safety, effort and of course Jiu-jitsu!”

“I visited Portland over the holidays and had the pleasure of training here. Professor Mario welcomed me into the class, and I was thoroughly impressed by his high-level instruction, the competitiveness of the team, and the gym’s cleanliness. It was a fantastic experience, and I’m looking forward to returning next time I’m in town!”
