Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“Our family has been training at Gracie Barra SW Portland for over a year now, and we couldn’t be happier! The coaches are fantastic—knowledgeable, patient, and truly invested in every student’s growth. Our child has gained so much confidence, discipline, and skill through their training here. The community is welcoming and supportive, making it a great environment for both kids and adults. Whether you’re new to jiu-jitsu or have experience, this is the perfect place to train and grow. Highly recommend!”
“Me and my two boys were in-town for a week and dropped in for a couple classes. Professor Gabriel is an excellent teacher who spent a lot of time with his students and genuinely cares about them. The schedule is super accommodating for anyone looking for flexibility and options. The mats were clean and everyone was very friendly. If you're in the Portland area and looking for a quality school for yourself or your kids, then I highly recommend Gracie Barra SW Portland!”
“Just started at this school and it has been a great experience. The instructors are excellent and make sure even new students can flourish. I joined near the end of the current curriculum and the professors and senior students always made sure I could get through the moves and guided me through the details to catch me up. The facility is very clean and there is a small changing room, bathroom and water cooler available for students. Only drawback to this location is the small parking lot. A bit of a walk is a good warmup though.”
“Great family activity that we started to not only keep us fit but also learn some valuable self defense techniques. We have to give a special shout out to Professor Jay and Professor Gabriel, the way they interact with the kids are amazing! Highly recommend Gracie Barra SW Portland!”
“I've been training at Gracie Barra SW Portland for five months, and have found both excellent instruction and camaraderie. Professor Bruno Rocha, the head instructor, is a third degree black belt who has trained BJJ for 20 years. He regularly competes in gi and no gi competitions across the world, and it's an honor to learn from someone with that caliber of experience. My daughter also trains here, and the kids classes are a nice mix of general physical activity, BJJ techniques, and instilling good values like grit and respect. Jay Stahl, the owner and a coach (he holds a purple belt), helps foster a safe and welcoming environment for adults, kids, and parents alike.”
