“I had such an amazing experience! The gym is a one stop shop for fitness. They have great instructors, great open mats, and a wonderful ladies group! Between the mats, the sauna, the recovery room, and the fitness experts there you can literally have it all.”

“I went to this gym in 2023 to do some cross training after training Japanese Jujutsu for nearly 10 years without any injury. In less than 6 months of training here I suffered a severe herniation in my cervical spine that required 2 discs to be totally replaced. The white belt classes I went to were fine enough, but since I had previous experience I liked to stay for the open mats at the end of the night to learn and practice more on the nights I went. This was a mistake. The open mats are where you can go to get smashed by people that do not care about your safety, especially if you're a smaller person just fighting to survive against more experienced BJJers. I was ignorant to the potential damage that could be caused by the positions I was being put into by larger and stronger people, and I know now I should've never rolled with them in the first place. it was fun until it was not, and if I didn't get injured I would've rated the place 3.5 stars. The high price of $190/month on 6+ month contracts that can't be broken and the fact training halting injuries seemed fairly common makes the gym seem OK at best to learn BJJ at. If you're still interested in training BJJ here or anywhere else, be extremely careful of positions you're put in and the size and attitude of your training partners. Not doing so can change your life in a very bad way.”

“Dropped in to catch some reps while in Dallas. The academy has a great atmosphere and the professors were excellent and very welcoming! Would definitely recommend.”

“We first tried this gym for a month and my two daughters liked it well enough. When one of them decided to sign up again a 6 month contract was required unless you did month to month which was very expensive. However, the second time around the classes were on the smaller side which had no seating for parents. They would typically have smaller classss on the larger side and so my daughters group would not have much room. I brought this up but they continued to structure the classes in that way. Also the front desk person was different now and she seemed nice at first until we asked her a question she didn’t know the answer to regarding the holiday schedule. She was extremely rude and kept repeating the same non helpful answer robotically. We complained one time because they once held a class that was completely games and no jiu jitsu lesson which I think is unacceptable considering I’d agreed to a 6 month contract for twice weekly jiu jitsu lessons. They basically told us they didn’t care that we felt that way and were not concerned. The instructors seemed nice enough though but they let the kids run wild before class begins. It’s mostly boys too, so I don’t recommend this for girls. My daughter felt bullied and picked on multiple times, she was able to handle it on her own. I didn’t get the feeling that the instructors do much to help with that. They do try to pair girls with other girls but there was only one other girl for most of her 6 months. This was very expensive and I’d likely decline to renew in future for that reason as well as because of the poor customer service.”

“I’ve been attending since March 2018. From the very beginning I was welcomed as a member of the family and have literally been surrounded with some of the best in the combat sports! If you’re looking to train for competition or looking to get fit and learn real self defense then Gracie Gym Richardson is the place to be hands down!! Totally worth it!!! Crystal at the front is super informative and very helpful! Everyone is so friendly and the environment is perfect for learning and growing!! You gotta stop by!! See you soon!!!”
