“I just wanted to come on here and leave a review from the adult class perspective. First of all, never did I ever think I would sign up for Jiu-Jitsu. I am a very shy and soft-spoken person. In fact, the first time I tried class during the mommy and me event I was super nervous. But it turned out to be a really great bonding moment for me and my son and it was so much fun learning the moves. Then when they offered the parents summer program, I figured I would take it just so that I can learn how to help my son practice at home, and maybe get in better shape. Well, little did I know how much benefit I would actually get from taking the classes. Not only did I get in better shape, but my confidence has increased a ton. I find it a lot easier to maintain eye contact and interact with people I just met. But what really surprised me is the effect it has had on my mental health. I'm a wife, a mom of three, I work a stressful job, and I take care of a disabled parent so I can get stretched pretty thin with all that is asked of me. You may think that Jiu-Jitsu is just one more thing I don't have time for, but everytime I show up to class I always leave energized and smiling. Learning the techniques and being able to execute them is very exciting. On top of that I feel more confident about being able to protect myself and my kids if anything were to ever happen. The coaches are amazing at explaining the techniques and being patient with you if you don't get it the first time or the 10th time. 😄That being said, I highly recommend literally everyone to come to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Downtown Modesto and get on the mat!🥋🤙🏻”

“(Updated Review ) July 15th 2024 My now 7 year old is still attending Gracie Jiu-Jitsu . Our experience is still great and the coaches are still the best . Like I mentioned in past they are always greeting you with a smile . After each class they do sanitize the mats and class always starts on time. My daughter absolutely loves jiu jitsu and loves competing in tournaments. Thanks to this academy she has been able to feel confident in competition. I still recommend this academy to anyone especially parents that are hesitant. Its worth it . My 5 year old has been attending Gracie Jiu-Jitsu a couple months now it has been a great experience for my daughter and us to watch. They teach not only Jiu-Jitsu but also In having confidence etc. Coaches always greet you with a smile. I definitely recommend their academy.”

My son has been enrolled in Jiu-Jitsu for about a year now and there has never been a day where he has told me that he does not want to go to class. “This place is a scam. They give out stripes by how many classes you attend and not by skill or progression. DANGEROUS! Classes are DUMB expensive and are VERY limited. There's not enough focus on technique or rolling. There's too much talking about things that aren't even jiu-jitsu related and games during such a short class. We were there for about 9 months, and our daughter got a stripe, and when we changed gyms, she got her ass handed to her by kids who had been there for less than half the time. When we tried to cancel our membership, they gave us crap about paying an extra couple months because of the way its set up. So we ended up paying an extra $400 when we weren't even there anymore. Thank God for our new gym and owner, who let us start the first month free BECAUSE of our experience at Charles Gracie. The people are like family where we are now, the prices are far better and UNLIMITED! You're better off at any other gym in town except here.”

“Knowing now how much my kids love jiu-jitsu and how much value they get from the classes, my only regret is not signing them up sooner. Over the last 10 months, I have seen my kids' confidence greatly improve. As well as their ability to focus, follow directions, make corrections, and socialize with other kids. The coaches always set a great example for the kids by showing up to class with positive energy.
