“From the moment I stepped into the Academy, I’ve only had positive experiences. The instructors, led by Jason, immediately made me feel at home. The facility is impeccably clean, with separate locker rooms and showers for men and women, spanning two stories for training. Bernard demonstrated a technique on my first day that convinced me to commit. Jason, Bernard, and Haley exemplify professionalism and genuine care, always ready to assist. They’re not just instructors; they’re exceptional individuals willing to go the extra mile. After work, I eagerly anticipate chatting with them and fellow students, creating a structured yet enjoyable atmosphere. Laughter is guaranteed, making it feel like a second home. For anyone seeking a training environment that feels like family, this is the place to be.”
“I was really nervous taking this class it was definitely out of my comfort zone. I took their woman empowerment self defense seminar. Hailey, Bernard, Jason, Lisa and there instructors offered a lot of techniques in this class. Anyone can take this class they welcome you and make you feel comfortable and it opened up my eyes. Met new people and they were great and heard a lot of stories. Know your worth ladies. You can do it! Thank you to the instructors for teaching us these techniques and I love the ambience of the place. I like what they have to offer looking forward to signing up and being part of Gracie jiu jitsu family. You guys are awesome. 👏🏽”
“Gracie Jiu-Jistu Elk Grove is a five star facility from top to bottom. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient and thorough. They stress safety by going slow and steady through a structured curriculum. Personally, it’s allowed me to go at my own pace and solidify the techniques they are teaching. I also appreciate that Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Elk Grove focuses on the self defense aspect of the martial art. Through their curriculum, it’s not only building a foundation for self defense, but it’s also giving me the confidence to react in a situation if one should arise. Gracie offers programs for adults, women, children and law enforcement. The facility is immaculate. The space is bright and airy. The training mat is expansive and clean. They provide locker rooms for men and women. As well as showers. Oh, and there is always parking out front. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Elk Grove offers a 10-day free trial. They provide you with a uniform and a rash guard for the length of the free trail. If you ask me, it’s a win-win situation. You have nothing to lose. If you decide to participate in the free trial based on my review, tell them Sergio sent you. ;)”
“This place is fantastic! Stop hesitating and come in to train already! Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Elk Grove will make you feel at home - regardless of age, sex, or ability, there is a place waiting for you here. The hardest part is taking that first step through the door and you will be very glad that you did so - you can thank me later. 👊🏼😎 The main instructors, Jason, Bernard, and Hailey, are extremely passionate, patient, welcoming, and knowledgeable about what they do. The facility, its amenities, and its mats are excellent. The Gracie (Brazilian) Jiu-Jitsu system is set up to maximize success for its students so that we can consistently come back to train day after day. It has now been over 9 months since I have been a member and have been attending on average 3-5 classes a week. In years past, I had attended two other local Brazilian Jiu-JItsu (BJJ) schools - the 1st for about 6 months and the 2nd for about 7 months. At both places, I learned some valuable lessons, mostly on how to take a beating, and did meet some cool people, but ultimately, I ended up leaving both places because of scheduling conflicts (lack of class times) and injury (mostly from sparring with a limited skillset). What I really love about the GJJ style of instruction is that all the lessons are planned out ahead of time with an extensive curriculum that you can access online to review before and after your scheduled class. They lay out a roadmap for your progression through the Combatives program and Master Cycle. They start you off in what they call the ‘Combatives’ program, where you learn the 36 most effective moves in Jiu-Jitsu, and at the end of each class, they provide the opportunity to do positional sparring specific to the class taught that day. After you show proficiency in the 36 moves and earn your combatives belt, you then begin the Master Cycle classes, which lead to all the following belts of Blue, Purple, Brown, and Black, and you then truly begin to “roll”. The idea is that by learning the fundamentals, you are then less likely to be hurt - greatly increasing the odds of continuing to train for the long run. GJJ Elk Grove has a fantastic Women Empowered program, which teaches ladies how to neutralize the 20 most common attacks that women uniquely face. My own teenage daughter recently started the program and is absolutely loving it! The first thing she does when she gets home after class is to show me what new move she learned. I truly feel that all of the young women in our lives should be given the opportunity to gain at least a basic hands-on ability to defend themselves in case, God forbid, they are in the wrong place with the wrong person. I don’t have young children, but if I did, I would not hesitate to enroll them into the Gracie Bulletproof program. I have seen enough of the class to know that it is as much about learning Jiu-Jitsu as it is about learning a mindset and a way of standing up for yourself and those around you. It is a super fun class and the kids always seem to be having a blast! 😀 There are people of all abilities @ GJJ, from teens to middle age to even one guy in his 70’s! I myself am pushing 45 and am STOKED to have found this place! I was convinced that I had quit for good after I left the last gym I trained at. I had essentially given up hope to ever learn GJJ/BJJ. Thanks to Jason and the rest of the crew I am now on the long path to accomplish my Jiu Jitsu goals. I am truly grateful that Gracie Jiu Jitsu - Elk Grove is open and thriving! This is now where I call home. The door is open - come on in! See you on the mat! Christian N. P.S. - If you read this far, make sure to let me know that this review helped you to make the decision to come in and train 🤙🏼 Although I’m not an instructor, I will always be willing to help you out in any way that I can. Oh and one last thing… If you live “far”- don’t let the distance/commute scare you. I myself have a 60 mile (roundtrip) commute, and there are a few other guys that come from even farther away! It’s worth it; just show up! Let’s go!!!”
