“I'm a man in my 50s, and a recent event inspired me to finally learn how to defend myself. I had done Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido as a teenager, but I can’t say I ever truly felt confident in my ability to protect myself or get out of danger. About five and a half months ago, I began training in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. I’ve been consistently taking three classes a week, and due to my busy schedule, private lessons worked best for me. Coach Alex has been an incredible instructor—his teaching style, attention to detail, and emphasis on understanding the "why" behind each move made all the difference. He was patient but firm, making sure I repeated techniques until I got them right. I dedicated myself to learning BJJ, but Coach Alex’s guidance is the reason I was able to prepare for the Gracie Combatives test in such a short time. I can genuinely see myself practicing BJJ for the rest of my life. It's not only fun, but it also sets the tone for my entire day—whenever I train in the morning, the rest of my day feels smooth and productive. I'm so glad I joined Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Newnan. I absolutely love it, and I’d highly recommend it to any of my friends and family. I can’t wait for the day when my son is ready, so he can join the kids’ classes.”
