“Gracie Martial Arts is a top notch jiujitsu school. The head instructor is knowledgeable and professional, creating a welcoming and ego-free environment that’s carried through by the other instructors and students. The facility is spacious, well-organized, and the mats are sanitized regularly. Things to know: 1. The advanced class ends closer to 9:30 PM which makes the door to door time from home 3 hours. Suggestions: move start times up 30 minutes, conduct Q&A after dismissal, eliminate downtime between techniques and move “free rolling” back to separate days. 2. The testing process, is difficult to navigate and relies heavily on students preparing on their own. While instructors are eager to see students advance, getting the necessary help—like critiquing videos—often requires booking private lessons. Suggestions: Schedule regular test preparation sessions every three months. Include video preparation and critique as part of regular class support, rather than charging extra. Anonymous surveys should be used to identify opportunities. Gracie Martial Arts excels in the areas that matter most: safety, instruction, self-defense, atmosphere and curriculum, making the higher tuition worth it.”
