“I have a 5 yr old on the spectrum fire ball of a son. The 1st 2 weeks I was ready to give up on it. My son wasn't listening to any directives, authority nor falling in line with the structure. He would just run around while other children would be following directives and I would just cry, i was mortified. It got to the point they would hold him and teach or put him in time-out but they never gave up on him. Two months later, my son received his 1st stripe on his belt and that's all he talks about. All I have to do is remind him that I meet with the coaches weekly to report his behavior and any behavior that is not pleasing I have to report. He'll say; "I'm sorry Mommy, it's important for me to listen to get a stripe on my belt." WELL IF THAT WHAT IT TAKES, I'LL TAKE IT! I used to sit there and watch my son be overstimulated and out of control, he still has his moments but not nearly as before. I used to sit there and think "I hate it here" but now I appreciate the coaches gentleness, soft tone, compassion and love for the kids. I know this was long but it's changing my son's and I life, I'm sure it will change yours.”
