“I have been training on and off for over 20 years and in that time, I have had the opportunity to train in several of the jiu-jitsu schools in the area. Although I would say there are other schools that have good instruction and quality programs, I would rate Hex at the top of the list for a few reasons. First, it is a very welcoming atmosphere. It can be very intimidating to walk into any type of combat martial arts school for the first time. Hex is a very friendly atmosphere with people who aren’t trying to roll through you, but are trying to help you improve. Second, Bryan Major is an excellent instructor who takes the time to make sure everyone understands not only the principle of the technique but the details involved to make it successful. Third, and I truly cannot emphasize this enough, they are the only Rafael Lovato Jr affiliated school in the area. The Lovato system is absolutely second to none. Lovato‘s system is designed for people of all ages. Many jiu-jitsu schools will say this but when you get in and start training, you will find many of the techniques taught are designed with explosive quickness in mind or extreme flexibility. No doubt, explosive quickness and extreme flexibility will help you in jiu-jitsu no matter where you train, the Lovato system is designed to be effective for people that are maybe not as quick or as flexible as they used to be.”
