“I stumbled upon this academy by googling jiu-jitsu spots near the south side. My first class with professor Julian blew me away. Specifically because of how he conducted the warm-ups. It wasn’t your typical front rolls, back rolls, hip escapes, etc. He showed us a medium range guard pass and each person went for time as he slowly ramped up the pace, details and resistance to emulate live conditions. Then he began showing a technique that tied into the guard pass. I left there and I felt like I had learned something that would actually stick for a change. As a 50 year old blue belt hobbyist, I tend to forget more than I remember. That being said, the vibe of the school is just as important. Everyone was super cool and welcoming. The training was tough, but all the higher belts took time to help the lower belts. You could tell professor Julian created an environment that focused on lifting each other up.”

Called Julian and he was welcoming for three of us as visitors. We attended three classes and an open mat session. Great vibes and tough rolls. Will be back for sure.”
