My son has been attending Kimura Watertown for nearly two years, and I can’t say enough good things about the program. Marvni, Patrick, Michael, and the rest of the coaching staff are outstanding. They engage the kids with energy and care, running a program that is both technically rigorous and emotionally supportive. It’s a tight, fair, and positive environment where kids truly thrive. We’re incredibly grateful to be part of it.

Kimura BJJ is a fantastic place to train and learn. I’ve been training for a few months now and highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into BJJ. Having no prior experience, everyone at the gym is extremely welcoming and provides a safe and fun learning environment. While it can be challenging, the instructors are extremely attentive and knowledgeable to help me overcome the challenge. Whether you’re looking to get workout or compete at a high level, Kimura is the right place to go to. The gym offers many classes which allows for a flexible schedule. Highly recommend for anyone!

My son has been training at Kimura for about 2 years, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the program. Marb has had a truly positive impact on my son’s life—not just as a coach, but as a role model. I trust him and the entire coaching team completely… My son is way more confident and develop such good friendships at Kimura. It really feels like a family there!

Kimura is an amazing place! We enrolled our teen daughter a little over a year ago and we can't say enough good things about what Kimura has meant to our family. We have watched her confidence and BJJ skill grow significantly. The real difference at Kimura is the people. The owners, the dedicated staff, and the fellow practioners make this place unique and special. If you have kids, don't hesitate, enroll them and watch what it does for them. If as an adult you're thinking to dip your toes, I can't imagine a better place. Everyone, and I mean everyone, wants to help you succeed.

I've practiced at Kimura BJJ for about half a year in 2024. With just about 4 years of experience in BJJ in total and a blue belt with 3 stripes I'm not really advanced, but not an entire freshman neither: I have regular experience from 3 other American schools, and 3 European ones. I can responsibly write that Kimura BJJ is a great BJJ school and recommend it to anyone who wants to check the sport. It is also offering morning, noon and evening classes, so scheduling is not an issue. The instructors are super professional and able to teach both to recreational and competitive students. The number of black belts is, arguably, the highest among schools in the Boston area, and it is typical that at least 2-3 black belts come to any class. Both gi and no-gi classes are offered, and in both cases taught by several different instructors, so you can choose your preferred instruction style. I've had a chance to learn from Bryan, Dave, Marv, McCormick, Nick, and Stan - all helped me understand different aspects of the game. Classes typically take 1 hour, sometimes followed by an open mat. Most, if not all, classes involve live rolling. Most instructors take good care to teach a specific curriculum, intentionally developed and introduced over weeks to really well introduce specific BJJ concepts - this approach is super useful, and works well for groups containing beginners, advanced and expert practitioners. The rolling culture is friendly, and people are eager to help each other grow, as well as adjust to the needs of others. The school is dog-friendly and, on occasion, a dog or two wait in the reception area for the owners to finish their training.
