Explore Jiu Jitsu TechniquesβSolid gym with a great atmosphere. The competition class was well-run, and everyone was coolβno unnecessary intensity, just hard rolls with good training partners. Felt welcome right away, even as a visitor. Would train here againβ
βI'm on my 2nd year at Legion and love the community. I'm immunocompromised and was getting frequently sick after attending evening classes as there would be 20-30 people but found my groove with the 6am class which naturally has less people. I'm a woman and 90% of the time, the only woman on the mat and training partners are a hit or miss anywhere you go but most of my training partners have been great. Prof. Sean's and Prof. Chad's wives both train Jiu Jitsu so I feel Prof. Sean and Prof. Chad understand the challenges I go through. Prof. Chad yelling "easy, EASY" and "less pressure" at my male rolling partners is forever singed onto my brain. Prof. Sean runs a leadership mentoring business and he's an incredibly considerate person and has a great ability in coaching students through where they are lacking without making them feel inadequate. He's very detail-oriented and I feel he picks up on people's learning mechanisms and teaches them based on it. I realize BJJ can be intimidating to get into, I'm not a bad athlete or martial artist, but as someone with CPTSD whom my most horrendous beatings happened when I was on the ground in the dark by men, it still took me a good year to get comfortable with men putting their weight on me, being in the dark (covered vision) and getting choked π but it's a fun and peaceful time and I say that without sarcasm. Hard to overthink when your brain, lungs, hands, arms, feet and legs are focused on the chess match that uses your own body. I'd highly recommend you come in for a trial class.β

βI had a GREAT drop-in experience with Coach Doug and the crew. Beautiful mats, high-quality instruction, and tough rolls. Highly recommend checking them out in you find yourself in East Nashville.β
