I must warn you the energy at this place is highly infectious. You might come in just wanting to try bjj, but you may eventually find yourself completely drawn into the game. When I was searching for a no gi bjj gym, I came across Magalit, took my first class with Coach Travis and I was instantly hooked. You’ll see people from all walks of life here, because everyone is genuinely welcomed and accepted. The environment is incredibly supportive, and people go out of their way to help you improve your technique. Whether you're looking to get fit, learn self-defense, or compete, Magalit is the place to be. Coach Travis and all the other coaches are fantastic. Travis breaks down each technique step by step and patiently goes over it until everyone has a solid understanding. I am super thankful to have found such a gem of a place in the city!

I’ve competed in various sports for most of my life. I’ve had bad coaches and I’ve had good coaches. I can confidently say that Coach Travis is the best coach I’ve ever had in any sport. I’ve trained under Coach Travis for the last eight years. During those eight years Coach Travis has been nothing but supportive, knowledgeable, respectful and patient. Not only that but Magalit Bjj has some incredible training partners/students. 10/10 would recommend

Great no-gi BJJ gym with a welcoming culture. Coach Travis was super friendly and made me feel right at home. Class was a good mix of warm ups, positional drills, and live rolls. I also appreciated having a few women to roll with - overall an awesome place to train!

I am a very happy member of both the Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai classes at this gym. It's genuinely amazing: a perfect mix of fun and high standards, always respecting everyone's level. No misplaced ego, just a safe and welcoming space for all genders—something rare and greatly appreciated, thanks to the fantastic coaches. I started Jiu Jitsu as a complete newbie, with no prior grappling or ground experience (and honestly, I am still one, but with a bit more experience now, haha). Travis, the Jiu Jitsu coach, along with the whole community, made me feel welcome right away. The atmosphere is both competitive and supportive, and although I felt a bit intimidated initially, that fear quickly faded. I'm also new to Muay Thai, though I have previous experience in stand-up fighting (Karate black belt and former assistant instructor). Still, Muay Thai feels so different and exciting—it brings back that beginner's joy. The clinching, knees, and elbows add a totally new dimension that's both challenging and incredibly fun. Jerry, the Muay Thai coach, is truly exceptional—one of the best I've encountered. He combines respect for tradition with openness to innovation. Rather than dismissing my Karate habits, he thoughtfully builds on them to help me improve in this new style. I always feel safe during training, whether it's during light sparring or clinching sessions. Each Muay Thai class is structured thoughtfully, focusing on different yet coherent themes each week. Jerry explains techniques clearly, always covering the "why" and the "how." Just recently, after our regular Wednesday sparring session, he pinpointed exactly what I should focus on next—I genuinely feel seen and supported in my progress. I'm thrilled to have discovered these new disciplines here and am grateful to be part of this gym's community. See you on the mat!

Best place I’ve ever trained, bar none. Not only is full of the most skilled no-gi players in the city, the community is full of some of the most friendly, welcoming, and humble folks I’ve ever encountered in a sport where that is too often hard to find. Travis simply rocks, as both an instructor and as a human, and has created an atmosphere that keeps BJJ fun while making sure everyone is progressing and getting better. Glad to say that I found my gym for life.
