“One of the best BJJ/MMA schools in the St Petersburg area. We moved to Florida from New York and we were looking for a place to train jiu jitsu and grappling for myself and my son (8yrs old, used to train at Renzo’s in NY). I researched the schools and instructors and settled on Mastermind. The atmosphere in the gym is great and the instructors are high level competitors. “After trying several different sports and martial arts schools, nothing clicked with our kids or felt "right" until we came to MMA. On our very first class, the kids immediately started enjoying themselves and the other kids in their class were so welcoming and helpful to them. Our kids have been attending classes here for three months and we could not be happier. The culture and atmosphere of this school are fantastic. Professor Jason and Coach Alma are great teachers who do an amazing job connecting to the kids. They find just the right balance between keeping things fun while also teaching the kids the skills they need to learn and pushing them to constantly improve in a very healthy, positive, way. They also instill an attitude of helpfulness and teaching into the other students so you always see the more advanced students encouraging and teaching the new ones. There's none of that toxic competitiveness you see in so many sports environments. Instead, the students and parents all cheer each other on and want everyone to train and improve together. It's so refreshing. The other thing we love about this school is that they offer hour-long classes, six days a week where so many other schools limit you to one or two 30-minute classes per week. Since we get to attend so often, the kids have made incredible progress in a very short time. They're getting stronger, healthier and we've even seen their behavior improve at home. I highly recommend Mastermind MMA to any families who are looking for a positive, healthy atmosphere for their kids.”
