“Everything about Maven is what you strive to find in an academy. Professor James is a great instructor who truly enjoys teaching every individual who attends his school. He has a teaching background and it shows in his curriculum. He is also one of the nicest guys you will meet. He also has a great staff. Kevin and Nico are the other instructors I have experience with who also show great passion in teaching Mavens BJJ philosophy. This place is filled with great people who invite you with open arms and quickly accept you as part of the family. You won’t find a better place.”

“My son has been attending the kids Jiu jitsu classes here for about six months now. I have been thoroughly impressed with the staff and the other students/parents. The staff are amazing! The owner is a great guy and makes sure he welcomes you each practice. I appreciate the small gestures as you can tell the culture is built around respect. The other coaches are just phenomenal: excellent in working with the kids, they make practices engaging and fun, the moves are taught well and they evaluate the student's moves, and they know how to motivate and encourage them. It's an amazing place and I feel fortunate my kid will get to learn under their tutelage. Everyone is very encouraging and supportive - the parents included, which hasn't been my experience in other sports. They cheer on other kids and monitor their own kids' behavior. I just can't say enough about how awesome this place is. It is a bit spendy $165/mo when I signed up my son, but if you can afford it, I think you'll see that it's money well spent.”

“Maven Jiu Jitsu Academy has a fantastic learning environment with great coaches and helpful peers. I started with them as a total beginner, and they were so welcoming and inclusive, which made me feel very comfortable as a new student. They're really good at explaining lots of complicated self-defense techniques, the reasons for all the considerations, why you need to pay attention to certain things, etc. - I appreciate them a lot. They have classes for many levels and different ages, but as a beginner, I'll only speak about the beginner classes. For the "Fundamentals" class, they follow a curriculum with 2 new lessons per week, and you have the option of going in Monday or Tuesday for Lesson A and Wednesday or Thursday for Lesson B each week. You can even repeat the same lesson if you want more practice, which I think is very helpful because it's better to practice until the moves become muscle memory. If you can commit to regularly attending lessons, they have a very reasonable subscription fee. I love them. Wonderful experience.”
