About a year ago our family started attending BJJ classes at Midwest Center for Movement. At that time we knew very little about martial arts and had four very different children between the ages of 5-13. We were looking for something to help our kids stay active and burn off their crazy levels of energy, build healthy relationships, and gain confidence. We initially joined because of a recommendation of some friends and have ABSOLUTELY loved our experience over the past year. Our son loved it so much that even when he broke his ankle and couldn’t actively participate for over 3 months, he would still come to class every time and work out and practice the moves on his own. We have loved the skills that the kids have learned and confidence that they have in themselves because of the training. We have loved the community and relationships that we have been able to build. We have loved the coaches for their skill in teaching and their care for the kids. We cannot recommend MCFM enough and would encourage YOU to do what we did last year and come on in and try it out.

Sensei Mike Elle Ellefson is the GOAT. Solid earned rank in BJJ, Aikido and other martial arts, he's too humble to list. He's awesome with kids and adults, and people who train with him are treated like family. If you are at all interested in martial arts practice, this is a professional long term instructor you need to meet.

I love this gym!! The head instructor, Mike Ellefson, is very knowledgeable and a fantastic teacher and the other members are great people from many different backgrounds. Truly a second family to me!

I first got started in my JiuJitsu journey through the We Defy program. Professor Ellefeson has been amazing. Many incredible coaches. I love that it’s not TOO traditional of a BJJ gym but still very well grounded in BJJ culture. My mental and physical health has benefited from this place in more ways than I ever could have imagined! 10/10 would recommend!

I have nothing but great things to say about Midwest Centers for Movement . My 8 year old son joined this past summer and we felt welcome from day one by the instructors, parents, and other kids. There is a wide variety of ages and backgrounds which is great because the kids work together and learn from each other. More experienced kids become leaders and are great role models for the newer kids. Kids learn important life skills including: discipline, respect, confidence, team work, and self defense all while having a fun time. This program teaches kids to work hard to achieve goals and to not give up when obstacles get in their way. The instructors are very knowledgeable and have a lot of experience. They are great with kids and challenge them in ways that will help them grow. MCFM has not only been a great experience for my son, but has also become a great investment because these skills are going to serve purpose throughout the rest of his life.
