This a really good gym. I and my elementary age son both attend the gym and really enjoy it. Coach Coker is great with the kids keeping them engaged and having fun while still safe. Coach Coker and coach Smith are both great teachers for the adults as well. The classes use a lot of game based teaching which really helps the concepts make sense. The community of members is also very encouraging and helpful. If you or someone you know in the Northport area are considering martial arts, I would highly suggest checking this gym out.

I dabbled in jiu jitsu in high school but struggled to grasp the concepts due to the heavy focus on static drilling. Nearly two decades later, I’m not only retaining what I learn but applying it effectively. Coach Coker combines the ecological approach with static drills, creating a holistic learning experience that addresses the small yet impactful details in jiu jitsu. Training at Misfit Martial Arts has been incredible—great instruction, friendly people, and a fantastic environment to grow.

I have a few years of traditional gi bjj which was drilling heavy. Coach Coker does a great job of mixing drills with more open ended games that challenge specific skills without falling into rote practice. Very friendly!

Gym is a great place to train! Very drop in/out of town athlete friendly. Chill atmosphere with great training and rolls. I was challenged skill wise but never felt in danger of an injury or ripped submission. Great place to start your journey or continue your journey with martial arts.

I've been training with coach Coker for about 5 months and I have learned so much. I had never done Jiu-jitsu before coming here but they have been super helpful and patient with my lack of knowledge. The style of training here has helped me not only with Jiu-jitsu but also with endurance in other aspect of life. The environment here is very friendly and centered on learning the sport.
