“Great open mats, the guys there were super cool and really welcoming. The head coach and owner is real nice. When I came down to McAllen to visit family this was the only gym that gave heck about responding to me. Anytime I’m down I’ll always come back.”

““When you find something special, you hold onto it”. I moved here to the valley for short term work and I wanted to get back into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In the past, I would take classes every now and then jumping from school to school due to always moving for work. It’s very difficult to find good schools when you move around a lot with awesome professors and instructors as well as teammates. I have finally found that school. Modern Jiu Jitsu feels like home, everyone is so helpful and WANT to see you succeed. There are no egos, jocks, or aggressive personalities here. Everyone will welcome you. I love how this academy places priority on technique and drills. While I’m not good at Jiu Jitsu, training here has increased my confidence and motivation to continue. Give this academy a try. You will love it!”

“I traveled to visit my family and I instantly looked for an academy to continue training Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I found several places but I looked the main coach bio and the training space. I went with no doubt to Modern Jiu-Jitsu and I was right. Manny was professional and kind, always answered all my questions. The training environment is so positive, the practitioners are respectful, helpful and willing to have an emphatic communication. I will for sure come back and train at with Manni and his team.”

“Lots of great people and great attitudes. Everyone looks out for one another. Been going here for almost 2 years and I’m loving the training. Last nights instructional seemed very tailored to specific problems I was having. Great kids program as well. Both my sons really enjoy it.”

“I was able to join an open mat at Modern Jiu-Jitsu while traveling from out of town and had absolutely the best experience! It's an incredible gym with great space. I was immediately welcomed and everyone in the gym was so kind--but also got really good rounds in. Nothing better than a gym that will make you feel like family and beat you up lol. Overall an amazing academy--definitely would highly recommend to anyone and hope I can come back and train again!”
