“My kids have been working 2-3 days per week at Move with Professor Russ now for about two months. My kids have been training for six plus years and we have seen a lot of schools in that time - they cross train often . Some really good schools & others that have a variety of significant defects in their kids programs. My kids currently work in small private groups (4-6 kids) & one on one privates with Professor Russ. We were referred to him when their previous privates coach became inconsistent & unable/unwillingly to offer privates to the kids (any kids) at the “home” academy my two train at (my kids also train folkstyle wrestling at the club & rec level). In addition to being a 2nd degree BJJ black belt, Russ is a highly accomplished wrestler who wrestled in college & coaches a local MS wrestling team. Russ is highly skilled in both BJJ & wrestling. Further, he is able to integrate both disciplines seamlessly. My kids truly enjoy training with Professor Russ & he is their “first choice” if they are training that day. Both my kids enjoy learning under him & invariably leave their sessions with him donning an ear to ear smile, anxious to show me what they have learned. Russ has never missed an appointment & if he needs to reschedule a lesson he proactively communicates such. Unfortunately, this is often not the case at other academies. He is a thoughtful teacher who can & enjoys teaching. Even 11 year old kids. There are a lot of “hobby shops” in Monmouth County. Especially when it comes to kids programs. Professor Russ knows my kids have grappling competition goals at the national & international levels. His high level skill set & high level teaching ability mesh perfectly with what my kids seek to achieve. If your child is serious about competing in grappling (IBJJF, ADCC, EBI, the various “superfight” promotions) then Russ/Move BJJ are among the handful of academies in Monmouth County that can get you there. Add in Professor’s very wrestling-centric style & you end up with a challenging & well rounded “style” that translates into success on the mats!”
