Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“I Just moved to Long Beach and I am extremely happy to have found Oddball Jiu Jitsu. I am a blue belt, and have trained at quite a few gyms over the last couple of years while traveling. I have to say I the atmosphere at oddball is top tier. The professor is an experienced competitor and teacher with a black belt under Andre Galvao. The students and training partners are super cool and everyone is respectful and clean. Also the kids classes are awesome. I highly recommend this as a place to train and/or send your kids!!”
“We joined this place so our son could learn some self defense options and have fun learning a martial art. He had no issues with anyone at school. Just preventive. Instead, he got bullied by another kid who joined his jiu jitsu class. The teachers did nothing about it when we emailed them and our son came home crying and wouldn't go back so we pulled our son out to bring him somewhere else to learn jiu jitsu. Now the same kid who met and started bullying our son IN THE SELF DEFENSE CLASS is now bullying him in the schoolyard. So instead of learning self defense, he wound up acquiring a bully because of this jiu jitsu class and his bully is still in the jiu jitsu class and we needed to take our son out. They are not capable of handling issues with children and have actually caused my child harm. I've called them on the phone twice and they haven't even returned my phone calls. I'd stay far away. If all goes well, it could be nice but as soon as something doesn't go perfectly, they don't seem to be capable of even returning a phone call. We're in a new place now that is way better about watching the kids but now we need to deal with the bully through the school. Be careful of this place.”
“I've know the head instructor Roo for almost two years now and he's one of the best coaches I've ever had. His knowledge in both Muay Thai and BJJ is extensive. He will train you hard but also is very accommodating to your skill level and the personality you bring to the school. I've really enjoyed starting BJJ these last few months as classes are nice, small, and intimate which makes for more focused learning and a community environment with your fellow trainees as opposed to the large crowded classes you might get at another school. If you're a shy person like me this is a very ideal place to train. High recommend for all levels of martial artists out there.”
“Came to Long Beach from Texas for a tournament and happened to find Oddball on Apple Maps. After calling several other gyms Shoshi was very kind and helpful in working out a time for us to train. The owner, Arun, an experienced blackbelt, was super welcoming. He was kind enough to allow us to train off schedule and provide advice on techniques. It’s obvious he loves the sport and wants to make people better athletes. I’m grateful to have found this gym and anyone who is local and able to train here regularly would be very lucky to have a coach like him who truly cares about his team and building their skillset. Anytime I’m in town I would love to drop in again in the future. Thank you Shoshi and Arun!”
“I have been training ju jitsu for 5 years. I dropped in on an open mat and was immediately struck with how welcoming the atmosphere was, and how well the gym was maintained. The professor was very technical, knowledgeable; and sparring with him was very fun. If I lived in Long Beach I would definitely train here.”
