“8 years ago I started a new journey, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The effects on my mind and body have been life changing. It is with out a doubt one of the best life choices & commitments I've made. More importantly.. kept. For those of you who struggle with motivation or boredom on the treadmill. This might be an outlet for you. There is something deeply primal about live grappling with another human, being in the moment and intensely focused on the task at hand. Often ill be 40 minutes into intense cardio and not even realize it I've made lifelong friendships and stayed committed to honing an art... practicing a craft.. steadily working towards a goal that doesn't really end.. I've won and lost more times then I can count.. but the academy (gym) is static.. always the same.. always there for me when I need it. Its my church. When I'm done my worries are lessened, my mind sharper, vision clearer, day brighter. There's a saying.. Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone.. but after a few months, its for half of those people.. after a few years its just for a handful of rare savages. My hope in this post is that I can convince one or two of those savages who haven't found jiu-jitsu yet to take the first step on an amazing journey”
