Amazing gym and instructors. Paul runs a great program that is inviting for beginners to high level Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Excellent facility and friendly environment. Highly recommended.

Had a great experience at the inaugural Dan Usen Invitational!! Had three matches - the gym was super clean, nice locker rooms, and a supportive environment. Paul is great, and I would recommend checking out this gym to anyone in the Providence area.

The coaches for the grappling club at Brown university come from this gym. They are all super nice and beginner friendly. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to BJJ. :)

I've known Paul for several years now, and I cannot begin to say how he has taken this gym to new and exciting levels. If you haven't been to this gym recently but used to come, (used to be Tim Burrill's) I strongly suggest you take another look at it. If you are interested in trying a class out to see if it's for you, already a student elsewhere but passing through the area, or a student in years gone by, but haven't been active, there's something for you here. The gym has been cleaned up and given a fresh new look and the classes are far more structured and accessible for all levels. The instructors, Paul (the owner), Tom (no-gi Friday), Jimmy (Sunday morning), Diamond Dave (weekdays), Adrian (wrestling), Marcos (Judo), Mike (fundamentals), Pat (fundamentals) and the other black belts who fill in as needed, are among the best you'll find. There are a lot of high ranking belts here that are always more than helpful the lower belts trying to learn and improve their technique. The dojo also emphasizes dedication and technique over ritual. We don't stand in lines in orders of rank and we don't fold our belts in unison or bow (not that there's anything wrong with that). A typical class begins with rolling, then drills, then some form of rolling for the last half hour. This dojo has become a family to me. So all I can say is, come and be part of the family. You'll be glad you did!
