Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“Caution for Women: Lack of Safety Measures and No Women’s Program As a female student, I had high hopes for this academy, but unfortunately, I encountered a situation that made me feel deeply unsafe. There is no women’s program, and from my experience, the academy was unequipped to appropriately handle serious concerns related to student conduct and safety. I reported an incident involving inappropriate messages from another student, which I documented and brought to the head instructor. I expressed clearly that I was uncomfortable and requested advance notice if that individual would be present in class, so I could avoid potential interactions. Despite this, I was not informed of his attendance, and during one class, I was confronted in a way that made me feel physically cornered and alarmed. Rather than taking steps to ensure my safety or fully addressing the issue, the leadership offered me the option to either continue training under those conditions or leave. I chose to leave. I also requested a partial refund for the period during which I could not safely access the full value of my membership, and was disappointed by the academy’s response. If you are a woman seeking a supportive and proactive environment, I strongly encourage you to find a gym that has a dedicated women’s program and a clear, responsive protocol for handling sensitive concerns”
“Procel Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the most welcoming and inclusive gyms I’ve been to. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, everyone is treated with respect and encouraged to grow. The instructors are skilled and down-to-earth, and the students reflect that energy. Great training, great people, and a strong sense of community. Highly recommend.”
“If you’re looking for the best place to learn/train in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, look no further. Procel BJJ has an amazing leader in Professor Brian and awesome coaches who make learning easy and fun! As one of the first students to join back when they first opened, I am so impressed by the growth of the academy. From the small grassroots community space, to the Brunswick Center, to then having to knock down a wall and expand into a bigger space within the Brunswick Center to accommodate more students. This growth really speaks volumes for how well run this academy is. Not only just the expansion in size of the academy, but also the expansion of different programs and seminars they offer. The kids program does a great job of teaching kids teamwork as well as how to defend themselves while also having fun and building confidence. The recent women’s self defense seminar was excellent! I sent my wife to it and she loved it! Highly recommend! Keep up the great work guys!”
“Training at Procel BJJ has been an incredible experience! The professor and coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about Brazilian jiu-jitsu. They break down techniques clearly and help you grow, no matter your skill level. The atmosphere is welcoming, respectful, and ego-free, where everyone supports each other. The academy is clean, well-equipped, and professionally run. Whether you're here to learn self-defense, compete, find a new hobby, or just get in shape, I highly recommend Procel BJJ!”
