“I was having the worst day at work and was feeling so down on myself, but then I went to the noon BJJ class at Ravlin and learned how to flip a guy twice my size over my head and then I felt SO much better Seriously though, I started attending jiu jitsu classes at Ravlin 8 months ago and was very nervous since I had no experience. Professor Angelus and the other students have been so welcoming and patient with me while I learn. Jiu jitsu can be a demanding and overwhelming sport, but the students here trust and look out for each other in a way that makes it easier for me to push myself and try my best. I also love the Wednesday women's classes - Coach Dom is a great teacher and really gives us the space to practice our techniques. This is a great gym that I recommend for anyone at any level”

“Post Covid19. The classes have been spaced so there is no overlap with other classes thus minimizing people contact. Matts are being sterilized in between classes. Your temperature is taking upon entering the school. Professor Angelus has over 25 years of martial arts training. He is an extremely gifted instructor that wants to share his knowledge and love of the arts. Coach pushes each student past their own personal comfort zones. Team Ravlin is a diverse team with students of different ages and different walks of life. The higher belts encourage and help the lower belts. I have made so many new friends in my BJJ journey. The teammates go out to eat, go to the movies, hang out outside of the gym...etc. It is a great friendly team environment and I love the camaraderie. I sometimes have to bring my two young daughters to the gym if my wife is not home. My girls do not want to do any sports. When we are live rolling it cracks me up that Coach Angelus is on the sidelines teaching my girls AND my girls are following his instruction. Coach Angelus simply can't NOT teach. It's just who he is. He teaches because he is SO passionate about martial arts and fitness. Ravlin also has kid classes. If you are looking for BJJ or Muai Thai and live in the Bellaire, West University, Medical Center or South Houston then Ravlin Martial Arts and Fitness is what you are looking for. There are no egos and you will be welcomed with open arms no matter your age, size, athletic ability or experience. I have NEVER done anything like BJJ but I just keep showing up. It gets addicting fast. Once you get past the nerves of doing something that is foreign and scary you crave coming to workout with your friends. After every class I am drenched in sweat because I just had an amazing workout. Come train in a safe and friendly atmosphere.”

“Walking into a Mixed Martial Arts gym with no experience is definitely very intimidating but as soon as I got into the gi and no gi as well as the Muay Thai kickboxing, I felt right at home. The camaraderie and the passion of the instructors and other students is unmatched. By far the best decision I made when I moved to Houston and I will be back!”

“Been training muay thai at Ravlin Martial Arts for a month now and love it! Professor Angelus McFarlane is a great coach and challenges his students to be their best physically and mentally. The facilities are top notch and long time students are willing to help us newbies. I look forward to training and learning for years to come.”
