They thoughtfully paired me up with so many amazing people who taught me and answered my questions. Everyone I sparred with was patient and clearly wanted to help me fall in love. ALL 10 PEOPLE. The community is incredible. You can tell everyone is friends. They even invited me to their weekly beers afterwards. The vibe here is NOT MMA. It is community and learning first. The owners intentionally sacrificed mat space for tables and chairs and puzzles. It was clear parents bring their kids for a lesson and then they stay for an adult lesson while the kids hangout. There is even a kids library area (with jujitsu kids books of course). The owner just wants to spread this art. When he heard that I drove so far he immediately started listing off good studios in my neighborhood to checkout. As for jujitsu, I can't tell if I'm more mentally or physically exhausted. It's all about physics and angles and technique not brute strength. I burned 1000cal sweating and wasn't aware. God knows how many more my brain burned.”
“A great laid back, quality BJJ gym! We enrolled our son first since many of his friends started various martial arts. The patience, instruction and respect that professor Lindsey brings to the practices is unmatched. The schedule also makes it very doable for parents to attend their own practices, so my husband enrolled after a few months. As an adult starting at the bottom, getting hurt is a major concern. However, my husband has felt nothing but supported and welcomed despite not being involved in many activities since college. Amazing gym in all aspects.”
“This is Snoqualmie's Hidden Gym 💎 As a practitioner of many styles of martial arts in my day (~30 yrs ish), I find myself incredibly grateful to train with this great group of human beings. Both Prof Casey and Prof Lindsay teach us a complete curriculum that's both rounded and challenging. My peers here are all kindred spirits that don't seem to fit the "Seattle Freeze" folks; all very friendly and approachable. It can be a very intimidating sport to get into, but this squad welcomed me to their mat from my very first day (now 3 months training). Renzo's has easily become one of my biggest passions and favorite activities to look forward during my regular week. *They also have a really solid kid's program, but I can't speak for it directly bc I don't have kiddos. But I can say all the kids are smiling most of the time 😁 - My stats: 38 y.o. / 4 yrs BJJ (blue belt) / 30 yrs martial arts (on/off)”
“Can't say enough good things about this location. The instructors are top notch, and the training partners are friendly, safe and hard working. This is my 3rd "full time" BJJ gym, and I have been able to train here more consistently than any others due to the ego-free environment and quality instruction.”
“I love it here. Professor Lindsay is a patient and detailed instructor. Her talent for conveying techniques and information is second to none. I would recommend to anyone considering Jiu Jitsu for themself or their family.”
