“Our son has been taking lessons at Rockstar Martial Arts- North Frisco for almost a year now. He has matured in ways I didn’t even know were possible- and not just his attitude and mannerisms but his confidence in how he handles himself as well. He walked in as a timid young boy who didn’t know a single thing and is now a confident boy who is gearing up for his first competition. Our goal in signing up with Rockstar was so that he could have the means to defend himself from unwanted and unplanned attacks or situations and he’s well on his way to doing just that. He’s become more confident in himself and his abilities which is a huge win for us because he typically isn’t one to stand up for himself or know how to defend himself. The coaches (especially Coach Lucas) have been a huge advocate for him and has been encouraging our son in such positive ways and we know he’s only going to get better from here. “Next month marks a year at Rockstar for my daughter. The growth we have seen is incredible - she started when she was just over 4 years old. Now she's just over 5 years old and she's actually doing legit takedowns and submissions. She's also taken down a lot. But no one in the real world is going to cut her slack so when she fights with all her might to get out and still can't, she understands that there's still a ways to go, still room to grow. The instructor at this location is Coach Lucas Lisboa Alves. Coach Lucas has been incredible to our son coaching great technique, pushing him beyond his comfort zone, but all in a healthy and fun way. Our son has now competed in several tournaments in the area, and Coach Lucas has been there with him very step of the way…both in victory and defeat. Sometimes the coach includes innovative games that aligns with the technique that is taught every week to keep the kids interested.
