“I recently brought my son to Roots for a trial session, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. While I understand that large classes can be challenging, my son felt overwhelmed with over 20 kids and only one instructor present. This led to him becoming emotional and anxious, which is not typical for him. When I approached the staff for assistance, I was hoping for some guidance or encouragement for my son, especially since he was new to the class. However, the instructor, who is also the owner, seemed dismissive and stated he was too busy to help. He mentioned that if my son wasn't willing to engage on his own, he wouldn’t provide any support. This response was disheartening, especially when we were seeking a positive introduction to Jiu Jitsu. Additionally, there was a lack of communication from the staff; I never received a tour or any information about the program when I signed the waiver. It felt as though there was little consideration for new students and their needs. Also, felt like they cared more about signing up as many kids (to earn profit) then, working with a child. Overall, I left feeling that Roots did not prioritize the well-being or development of its students. As a parent, I believe that guidance and encouragement are essential for children, especially in a new environment. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.”

“Thank you for your reply, it wouldn't allow me to reply back to your comment. I appreciate your attempt to clarify the situation, but I want to address a few points further. Firstly, the front desk staff did not provide any information or guidance about the program, nor was there a proper introduction for my son and daughter as new students. I had to approach the instructor myself to introduce them, which felt very unorganized. Additionally, I called on Monday to confirm that my son was ready to start the session today, and I was told it would be a perfect idea. Especially, since he will be turning four years old next week, since the program is for four year old and up. He has experience in martial arts from another facility where the instructors were open and supportive, which helped him thrive. I never intended to force my son into anything, but I expected some encouragement and support to help him feel comfortable. Instead, it felt like there was no effort made to help him build confidence, and when he ran out of the class, no one seemed to check on him. I hope this feedback helps you understand our experience better. Thank you for your time.”

“This place has become a safe haven for the kids. They enjoy coming .. my little one cries when we miss a class! They instill skills that will follow these children with their perseverance into these children . For my older son, who once struggled with confidence, this place has made a world of difference. He now stands tall, overcoming anxiety while working on self-control and discipline. My youngest has flourished and had a new found love for jiujitsu! They treat each child like family with respect and compassion but give them The tough love they need to grow. Alex, the owner, is always actively involved, knowing each child by name and making the experience fun and engaging. The other coaches also create a nurturing environment. Justin Scoggins is especially passionate, teaching the children both martial arts and life skills with the respect and encouragement they deserve. Jared balances it all with the tough love the kids need to thrive, while Khalil offers a calm presence, helping them perfect their techniques and providing extra help when they struggle. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. It has been an incredible experience for my children, and I highly recommend it to any parent looking for a positive and transformative environment for their kids.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ROOTS COMBAT CLUB is simply incredible! From the moment my son and I walked in for the open mat class, we were blown away. The facility is spotless and has such a cool, welcoming vibe. The owner, Alex, and the members were so friendly and made us feel right at home. They gave us a tour and explained everything they offer, from kids’ classes to adults’. My son had the chance to try the open mat class, and he loved every second of it! We met several of the trainers, and each one was approachable and answered all of his questions with ease. This place treats you more like family than just another gym member, which made the experience that much more special. The best part? The first visit to ROOTS COMBAT CLUB was FREE! It allowed my son to get a feel for the environment before deciding to join, and now he can’t wait to become part of the club. I’ll even be taking a class while my son is in his, which is a huge bonus for working parents trying to fit in a workout. The cost of classes was very reasonable compared to most gyms in our area. If you’re searching for a clean, welcoming, and family-friendly environment where both you and your child can learn self-defense and stay in shape, ROOTS COMBAT CLUB is where it’s at. Highly recommend—this place is the real deal! You won’t regret it!”
