Coach Ricardo is such a great instructor and notices if the kids are having a hard time and restructures his own teaching so that they will understand. He and the other coaches are completely dedicated and supportive of all the students. They learn each student and teach according to that student. A bit more gentle for some, tougher on others, encouraging and pushes for excellence always. “I've been training at Royal BJJ for about 5 years now and I really consider it to be my second home. Everyone who trains there is super friendly and push one another to get better. There are alot of technical higher belts who also help improve your game. The place is super clean and a really a comfortable atmosphere to train at. Professor Ricardo is an awesome coach who always focuses on his students best and really does everything to help better everyone's BJJ game. “I had the pleasure of being Ricardo's student for about 6 months in Albuquerque, NM. While having Ricardo open his own gym in Plano is a great loss for Albuquerque, it's an incredible opportunity for those in the area. Having Ricardo as my coach seriously surpassed any expectations I may have had when I first began my journey. I had never had any experience with grappling or wrestling of any kind, so I was very nervous to try my first class. Ricardo made me feel super comfortable from the moment I stepped on the mat and explained things in a way that I could understand without making me feel awkward for asking what I thought were obvious questions. He ultimately helped me to light a fire and passion for jiu-jitsu that I never would have discovered without him. At first, I was only trying the classes out for the purpose of self-defense.
