Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“It's rare you find an instructor who is both passionate about what they teach AND is great at teaching. When you come to SBA, you get three teachers who are enthusiastic amazing educators. Professor Rob, Sensei John, and Sensei Casey teach a fluid blend of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, traditional Jiu Jitsu, and Judo. The school is small, so if you are a non-traditional learner or someone dealing with a physical hardship such as myself, you can be assured that you will be safe while learning. Despite being small, many of the students have black belts in another martial art along with advanced belts in jiu jitsu. This means you will learn from highly skilled practitioners safely at your own pace. SBA promotes kaizen, which is a Japanese philosophy that encourages continuous improvement through small, incremental changes. If you want to get better at coping with pressure, develop fortitude and grit, or just learn self defense from the ground while getting rock hard abs, come to SBA. You won't regret it!”
“I had the chance to train at SBA BJJ while visiting from Japan, and it was a fantastic experience. The coach welcomed me with open arms and made me feel right at home. I learned a lot during my time there, thanks to the coach’s guidance and the support of the team. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make my visit enjoyable. Whether you’re a local or just in town for a short time, SBA Brazilian Jiujitsu is an excellent place to train. Thank you to everyone at SBA Brazilian Jiujitsu. -Mark”
“I joined SBA for striking classes, Rob is a great teacher! He’s patient & detailed when explaining & going through movements or different combos, which for me is great due to being a beginner. I thought it would be intimidating but it’s been the complete opposite, Rob as well as the other members make this class really enjoyable! You can tell the passion Rob has for this is definitely something you want in a teacher, it rubs off on all of his students.”
“I have been training at SBA for a couple months now and can say joining the gym has been great for me! I’m new to the sport so it was a little intimidating for me at first, but Rob is an incredible instructor; he listens to and answers all questions patiently and with great detail. He is welcoming and friendly, and cares about your progress. I would highly recommend training at this gym!”
“This place is great, Rob is a good teacher with a balanced outlook on street application versus tournament. It’s also not closed minded into only BJJ. There is a lot of judo application and Rob used to be pro MMA as well as worked security so there is a great mix of application here that is missing from many other schools. Rob is also good at working around your injuries or physical handicaps and adjusting the move to make it successful for your body type. The school also has a no ego policy so there is nothing to fear about training with the other students. They are all very humble and good at teaching you as well. Claris is also a great female instructor and very knowledgeable with stretching and bjj. I’ve had a lot of anxiety trying to find an MMA/BJJ school here since I’ve moved a couple years ago and glad I found Rob (recommended through another pro boxer that I trained with). As for the gym it’s very clean with a shower which is nice before and after coming from work. The Mats are actually on one big spring board, I’ve never used one before but after experiencing it I would never want to train back on standard mats. I encourage anyone to give this gym a try before making the assumption that it’s just your typical cookie cutter BJJ school. I personally stayed away from BJJ art itself for many years after bad experiences at other schools in my previous state.”
