“Been in the studio for over 3 years, Hard work, Family oriented, really friendly staff who cares about you, your goals and your progress. Being in this art has lead me to complete my goals, fitness, self defense, discipline, etc. For parents concerned about kids learning something violent, this art is all about defending, we're not taught to be aggressive, but rather to learn control of ourselves and understand the aggressive person against us is still our responsibility, and as such we need to be careful how we react and what we do. This is the real value of a more traditional martial art. This is not only martial arts as sport, this is self defense, all things considered, I have seen teachers go through small details that can make the difference in a fight, as well as they teaching personalized training strategies for all type of people. A bit more about Kempo, this is an original version of Mixed Martial Arts which includes the submission of Jujitsu, the explosive power of Karate do, and the Soft moves of Kung Fu. One starts humble in white belt, a journey we all endure gladly to see our skills and knowledge grow, when I first started I was matched in sparring against a higher level belt, I was cornered and started laughing as I realized I really did not know what to do or how to defend, after 3 years I'm able to give a good fight back while understanding there's a lot more to learn.”
