“I have tried out nearly every BJJ gym/school here in Erie, and although I have nothing negative to say about any of those places, the curriculum just clicks with me at Shoshin. I'm a new dad so I don't have many opportunities to make most of the classes, but with the 1 class a week I'm able to do, I learn so much, and my fellow team mates help so much and Shoshin is just a great environment to be in and learn in. Also, the positive environment has been helping me to think more positively, gives me more confidence and I've been a lot more health conscious ever since I started my Jiu jitsu journey. “My daughter was looking for a new challenging experience after 9 years of gymnastics for age 2 to now 11. So we attended an open class orientation night at Shoshin Jiu Jitsu. Tony immediately welcomed us in even though the open class was technically for adults. With great passion and knowledge, Tony explained the history and philosophy behind Jiu Jitsu and gave an introduction into what we could expect from the classes. My daughter was immediately intrigued and started attending classes regularly 5 days later and has been going consistently twice a week for 3 months. She absolutely loves it. While this may be an intimidating experience for some, Tony does a great job of meeting people where they are and making the curriculum accessible to everyone. It's very obvious that he has created an inclusive community where everyone feels comfortable but also challenged at the same time. Every adult there has gone out of their way to work with my daughter and help her work through her new skills and gain some confidence. It's clear that Tony has cultivated this environment from the example that he leads and his expectations he has for his students.The facility is also well maintained and spotless which also is a direct reflection of Tony's commitment to his students. As a parent, teacher, and coach, I am very impressed with Tony's passion, attention to detail, authenticity and his ability to convey what can be a very complex martial art into a digestible form. I am extremely happy with our choice in school and feel like the physical, emotional, and social skills my daughter is gaining at Shoshin Jiu Jitsu is well worth the cost.”
