My sons have been training here for over two years, and it’s become a second home. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about jiu-jitsu, creating an environment where everyone—from beginners to advanced practitioners can thrive. What sets this gym apart is the sense of community. It’s more than just a place to train. It’s a family. Everyone supports and pushes each other to grow, both on and off the mats. Whether you’re looking to improve your skills, compete, or find a supportive group of people, this is your gym. We recommend them to our people all the time!

Dropped in for a class here and it was such a positive experience! It is always a huge green flag when a Jiu Jitsu gym has a strong women’s presence, and I can’t say enough great things about how welcoming everyone was. Professor Clements has a very technical but easy to follow coaching style and I learned a lot, followed by some very challenging yet fun rolls. Thank you for such a great class and looking forward to next time!

This is a very family friendly / family oriented academy. They have great coaches and the professor is really good with the kids. They teach it in a way that is easy to understand and helps build the confidence the kids really quickly. I highly recommend giving it a try with a free class because what do you have to lose.

I had to come on and make an edit on this review three years later. Our family has been involved with Sidewinder for going on seven years now. What can I say about HQ now except we are a big family. I’ve lost 95 pounds since my last review and have had the privilege of holding three different #1 world rankings with podium appearances on many local and several world-level competitions, including double bronze at this season’s Master World Championship. We are so very grateful God aligned our path with those at Sidewinder. We are better. Our kids are better. I can’t say enough good things. I’m the girl on the left (in the picture of the two white belts). I’m by no means that stereotypical skinny chick with muscles bulging who dominates every athletic event. But I can do Jiu Jitsu. I can learn and I can get better Every. Single. Time. I hit the mats. It doesn’t matter how much I weigh, what my athletic abilities are, or what my mental and physical shortcomings happen to be. When you step on the mat none of that matters. You are your own measuring stick. We utilize BJJ as a family endeavor. It’s a chance for my husband and I to spend time with our kids. In a world where busyness demands the family unit is a bunch of strangers living in the same house, we have the ability to know our kids better and actually participate in their sport with them. What other sport can you do that in? It has changed our boys for the better. I literally have seen my oldest transform, in front of my eyes, from a timid little boy with waning self esteem, to a lion, a young man ready to roar with the confidence to take on the world. We have the obstacles Professor C has thrown his way in Jiu Jitsu to thank for that. Professor’s heart is for these kids. He knows when to push them and bring out the best in each kid, no matter their background, age, size, or athletic ability. Each of these kids might as well be his own biological kids, because he loves each one of them to the max. He beams with pride when a kid makes progress and does something that kid never thought he or she was capable of. He will push them of course, because he insists on each kid coming out of class the best they can possibly be. I challenge you to come try it. Come and see what you’re capable of, because it’s going to be better than you could ever imagine.

Sidewinder is an amazing place to train for both kids and adults. We signed our kids up over a year ago, and loved the atmosphere and training so much that my husband and I had to try it as well! We love all of the coaches there, and they take great care of our kids. Couldn't recommend this place more!!
